Tactical analysis of Arsenal (by a LFC fan)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The diagram with the long ball scouse "passes" alone was enough to make me dizzy

I know that many on here will agree with your assertion that our full backs (and the space behine them) are our big weakness but for me that is harsh on our full backs. We play a system that requires our full backs to play as wing backs/part time wingers but then dont play a formation that is suitable to that gameplan. In my opinion, if you play a wing back system then you play a 3-5-2 formation but of course your wing backs then need to be sufficently good enough at crossing the ball to make it work and our full backs are shite at it   Tbh 5 minutes of watching our team should tell you what you need to know - if our passing game is at its best then it is fast and incisive but anything less than at 100% will see the monotonous sidewards going nowhere passing that frustrates the fcuk out of Gooners everywhere  All it requires for any opposition team to nullify us, is for that team to be tactically sound and for their central midfielders to sit in front of the back 4 and force us to play down the wings - the classless chavs won a champs league by forcing a barca team with no width, to play down the wings and that concept is alien to them mainly because they dont play with a centre forward to cross the ball to  Our situation is somewhat similar except we do have giroud in there but we have cazorla, ozil, ramsey and wilshere moving inside all the time which leaves only our full backs to cross the ball and we will see an eclipse more often than we will see those two cross a good ball

Agree 100% with all of this ^^ .

It riles many Gooners that Arsene does not have a Plan B at all. So many teams figured us out (particularly last season) by countering our 4-5-1 with a neat 4-4-2 where the 4 midfielders stay within range of the 4 defenders denying our midfielders that space to operate in between the 2 oppo banks of 4. This kills our pacey attack and as augie says forces us out wide where our fullbacks cannot cross for shit. Or worse, it makes us resort to the hugely frustrating tippy tappy game across the midfield with no penetration and few shots.

It's encouraging to see a scouser using his time on the dole for something productive rather than thieving, don't you think?

In the context of a comment regarding the dole, its a bizarre use of the word 'productive'. Anyway, don't let that hold you back.

What did you expect mate? You come on here and insult us by proclaiming our manager uses something called 'TACTICS', and does 'ANALYSIS' of the opposition. Utter nonsense. I'm surprised you haven't been banned for this affront tbh. You sir, are worse than a spurs fan.

Blimey, I would ask what he does all day but if he's in Liverpool, he's probably not going to work and I'd imagine that you need to keep yourself busy in that dole queue. Having said that, as he's a Victims fan, he probably lives in Kent.

Only certain Oirish people mate, nothing for you to worry about.

To fall into that category you need to meet at least one of the following criteria.

1. Over 4'6" tall
2. Hetrosexual
3. Human looking.

So don't be offended, I don't think he was including you in his comment
