THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Well, the truth is, when we win things over the next few years, he will be proving the majority correct
i would suggest that in order to do just that he will have to totally abandon the failed policies he has stubbornly stuck by over the last 8 years.

In order to win something he would have to buy quality (like Ozil. No need for him to hav a "season to adjust"), study the opposition, make tactical subs during the game, buy a fukin striker, buy a fukin keeper, stop rewarding failure with contract renewals, stop overpaying the shite, reject his "socialist wage policy" etc, etc

So if Wenger were to win anything he'd actually be proving the WOB's right, not wrong. Those of us who have been crying out for him to these things for years will be proved right, not wrong.

But its all moot anyway cause he should be nowhere near Arsenal after hes fucked about with his vanity project for so long. I just hope the arrogant fucker has a rare moment of humility and does not renew. Increased fan/media pressure I really believe would ensure he doesn't renew but because of the Ozil signing and the decent run in the Prem he's back to being a fuckin genius in some peoples eyes.

But I fear it wont be long before everyone realises the "King is in the altogether"

Blind faith/optimism isn't a fact fella
LOL, of course it is! certainly as much as pessimism and miserablegitness ;)

As I've said many times, it's not blind faith to me, it's a natural progression and, over the next 9 years we will win things and it will be, in a major part, down to Arsene and what he has done for us. :blah: :blah: as folk will say.

Anyway, back to today, off for a couple pregame, then a holding bladder painfully scenario til half time... UTA
That's all well and good for you but you can't say WHEN we win things as though it's a given

And although us winning PL or CL under Wenger would prove a great many people to be massively wrong in their assessments (myself included), it wouldn't automatically vindicate the way we've gone about things since 2006. Whatever happens from now on, we've pissed away a number of years and not in the name of progression.

very true. Mourinho wore one today and Chelsea lost too

I'm loving that we are top but I have a fear that at the end of the season, we'll all be saying we could have won something if we'd had back up for Giroud. In the absence of that, we have to hope he has super human powers as our game hinges on him.
Wenger was really negligent - I've had AKBs mutter agreement on that one.

still what a good day it's been :barscarf: :barscarf:

Tell how it feels to be Tottenham,
Tell me how it feels to be small,
You sold Bale
We signed Mesut Ozil, Mezut Ozil, Mesut Ozil!

Quality song.

They did very well, no denying that. I just know that when United start kicking lumps out of us and the Chavs shut up shop and hit us on the break it will be back to the same old story though !

We will probably be here in a few years after more heartache and suffering, mainly due to winning fuck all, and you will still be for him. I know exactly what kind of ''supporter'' you are, Arsene before Arsenal.

Just because you are in a majority doesn't make it right. FACT.
Indeed it is true that just there mere fact of being in the majority doesn't make it right. I have never and will never be an 'Arsene before Arsenal' and I see nowhere I have ever indicated that hereabouts. But hey, you, as I, am entitled to your opinion.

We do have once less straw for some to clutch at this evening tho... strawclutchers beware imo :) lol ;)

We've been so starved of tactical flexibility that I don't want to get carried away by a couple of simple examples, but I do think we should acknowledge that AW has shown a bit more sense in some of our recent games. Sometimes he's played one DM, sometimes two, generally to good effect and today he had us playing deeper, which gave SAS very little space and showed up the Victim's lack of creativity in midfield. It also gave us the space to pass through and around them.
I suspect AW makes these changes reluctantly, but we should welcome any changes in his usual inflexible approach.

I can and have said that because I believe it to be true as much as some folk believe they can say 'he don't know tactics' 'he's a senile git' 'we have been shit for 8 years' ad nauseum.

I am reluctant to go round in circles as we will never agree, but I have maintained that we have not been pissing away a number of years, and feel a large part of the motivation for those who do say that is glory hunting and fickleness. Clearly folk here will get angry or beg to differ with me, but that is how I see it. We have maintained ourselves over a transition period and are still in a position to challenge and that is what I believe we will do over the next few years.

No doubt, when we do win thigns, folk will find things to say like "it's because he changed the way he does things, it's because he finally spent money, it's because he started 'doing tactics' [lol fcking lol here btw, that argument is utter bollocks the 'he don't do tactics one'] Much like Steve_O says 'xxxx won't happen' 'we will see the truth when we play####' I reserve the right to say we WILL win or 'WHEN' we win, and admit I got it wrong if ever I do... I won't tho' simples :) ;)

This, of course, is the most pertinent post here and one on which, surely, all can agree I think.

Don't you fcuking dare call me a glory hunter. I was a gooner while you were still in nappies I imagine! I am not fickle. I have held the same opinion for about 5 years now and today changed nothing. We don't tolerate super fans on here so wise up.

woah , whatever pal. I could just as easily reply in kind. I have an opinion and if you don't like it then it is not my problem but yours.

To my mind it is fickleness, and if it upsets you for me to say that then there is little I can do., but I reserve my right to state my opinion. I have NEVER been abusive here, as far as I can recall but if abuse from a mod , simply because I don't agree with the local 'line', is what I get then hey...

Sorry but calling me a glory hunter is abuse. I have supported the Arsenal (not Arsene) for about 50 years through thick and thin. I am not fickle (more abuse) as I have felt this way about Wenger since about 2008.

You can have your opinion but do not characterise my opinion in an insulting way implying you are a better gooner than me.

I didn't abuse you I told you not to to abuse me.
