Home against the mousers

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm glad someone else noticed that because I think they've got fucking shit support and always have. Singing borrowed songs from Celtic and holding your scarves aloft when you're playing a big European game at home is one thing.....but in all the times I've been to Anfield I've yet to witness this so called fantastic support. A bunch of retards in the Kop willing the ref to give a penalty every 2 mins? If that's great support, then shove it up your ass

Their fabled support at Anfield isn't great either really tbh.

I think he plays well against a particular type of player and strangely enough the quick and nimble players are the ones he does best against. He played Suarez fantastically well tonight.

In his favour now is that there are very few teams, if any, who play with a big lumbering donkey up front and that means he is less exposed than he once was. It's bizarre but he's more comfortable against Suarez than he would be against Andy Carroll.
Agreed. And although world class is a controversial definition that I generally try and steer away from I wouldn't use it for somebody that is a disaster waiting to happen against a particular type of striker and never looks comfortable against a striker playing with their back to goal.

REASONABLE POST ON RAWK ALERT!
Well ladies and gents, sometimes in football you have to throw your hands up in the air and admit that the other team is better and deservedly won. They weren't just better than us in this match, they are better than us as a whole.

They outplayed us in every department, defended well, outpassed us in every area of the field, took their chances, and looked comfortable throughout. As Henderson said before the match, whoever comes out on top will make quite a statement. And Arsenal have. Not only have they beaten us, they've done it quite comfortably and shown that we have no business in the top two or possibly three spots chasing whoever the league leaders may be. We'll have a real fight on our hands to try and get that fourth place, but all talk of any "title challenge" needs to be abolished immediately.

I agree with you. Every player is likely to make some mistakes. The top professionals don't make too many though, that's the difference, and Koscielny is a top player.

Arteta was, in my opinion, man of the match tonight by a country mile - yes kos, BFG and cazorla all played exceptionally well but none of them were near arteta who dominated the midfield and showed stevie me and the Brazilian donkey (lucas) up for the average shite that they are 8)

All of the team played well imo.......except ozil - I might be getting ahead of myself at the mo, and I know his expression last Tuesday night v the chavs is on my mind, but I don't think that he looks to be a happy camper right now. Against the chavs I put it down to the fact that he didn't expect that he would have to play alongside (and carry) shite like bedtner and park when he signed, but they didn't even get onto the pitch today and he still looked like he didn't give a fcuk

If we keep agreeing on stuff there's a real danger of a bromance developing.

I'll have to start posting more stuff about Abou again :D

Liverpool FC - world's scummiest fans. Funny how their pursuit of the police after the tragic events of Hillsborough 1989 seems to brush over the 27 arrests for manslaughter at Heysel four years earlier. Still they 'weren't Liverpool fans' apparently. Thanks for expulsion from Europe which ensured the class of '89 didn't get to play in the European Cup. Fucking wankers - I hope 100 years more misery continues

Can't we be happy to have BOTH Arteta and Flamini by the way? We're so darn lucky, and this is why we'll win the league.

For me Giroud is an option and should never be "the first name on the teamsheet" like Wenger has it now.
I'd take Rooney or Suarez of the players we were linked with but that ship has probably sailed.

as one of the original fans of Giroud right from the start, i think you have to be out of your freaking mind.

Rooneys fat and past it and Suarez works better in a partnership.

I think you're reading too much into it. Özil's always had that expression on his face, whether he's playing for us, Germany or RM. He looks like he can't be fucked, it's in his nature.

Rooney and Suarez are two of the best proven strikers in the world ffs.
Both could play alone or in a partnership. We were in for them both at different times.

We need a proven world class striker. I dont think anybody would disagree with that.
Out of my mind? No
Had a few Carlsberg? Well... probably.

I think we should sell Ozil and Santi.

Depends on how we want to play imo, if we're going to persist with fielding 3-4 attacking midfielders every game then I think a player like Giroud compliments them far more then someone like Suarez would in a lone striker role. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Giroud is better then Suarez but it's horses for courses. I think we can all agree that we need more numbers in that position though. I think Maureen made a good call (from his perspective) in not loaning us Ba.
