Everything is still possible (besides Marseille going through) in that group, we will see.

Cheers,

That really wasn't a pen, would have been very very soft. Lewandowski was looking for it (cheating *word censored*). Don't forget we were denied a stonewall penalty as well ourselves when your keeper flattened Kos.

Was an absolute nailed on penalty - I am and always have been a huge BFG fan, but he fouled lewandowski there when he didnt need to do so. If we were 1 down with a few minutes to go and had of been denied that penalty there would have been absolute carnage on here

It was a penno, but Loviedogski ( :D ) did himself no favours by overacting, making it look like he dived. But it was a penno for me.

Great win, fantastic grit and spirit from the lads. Arteta was brilliant again, never stopped working and did the old Adams on them by putting a few early markers in which seemed to put the Germans off their game a tad. Yeah, with another ref he might have seen a second yellow and off but it was a game where we needed someone to do that kind of "dirty" job. Flamoney would have been the obvious choice but to be honest I would bet both of my superb testicles he would have overdone it, flown in with a couple of leg breakers and deffo been sent off. Sometimes he is just a bit too obviously aggressive and European refs don't like that. Rosicky too never stopped working.

Mert and Kos are starting to form a better understanding and both did brilliantly last night.

Cudos to Giroud again. He isn't scoring but he challenges for everything, is our best defender during set pieces, never stops working, and puts the head in where it might just get hurt. He is a better link up second striker for me than he'll ever be a first striker and I still insist he would only get better in a 4-4-2 with a proper pacey striker beside him.

If our confidence isn't sky-high after such a brilliant victory and if we don't bring it to the Filth on Sunday we deserve to win fuck all.

It wouldn't have surprised me if the penalty had been awarded due to the atmosphere/stage of game and Lewandowski's theatrics but in reality it was never a penalty. If a pen is awarded every time those players prone to hit the earth feel minimal impact then we would regularly see rugby scores. It would have been incredibly soft.

A great result from an exciting team. I've got to "take my hat off" to Wenger, he has delivered an excellent start in spite of a long list of injuries. I promised myself I wouldn't get excited by CL this year as we have consistently failed to re-invest its resources and compete. Dortmund are one of the very best sides in Europe and we have genuinely competed over two ties. We have improved immensely. Long may this run continue!

Thought it would have been a soft penalty - but Mertesacker had his hands all over him and it was stupid to give the ref an excuse to award one, especially in the 93rd min or whatever.

Saying that Koscielny's was also a pen - if somebody flicks the ball on and then a defender slides straight through the back of him after you can bet your bottom dollar it's a foul and a yellow card to boot. Although not many refs would give a pen for what happened last night I don't think.

Also agree with DB10's post about Giroud's defensive work. Every game he heads clear a couple of set pieces - yes quite a few of them are underhit but I think his contributions in that area are severely undervalued.

Just thinking about Kos getting clattered by their keeper. Surely if a keeper comes charging 10 yards, misses the ball and jumps into a player, whilst leading with his arm and knee, it should be a penno? I know they are never given but this over-protecting of, and preferential treatment of, keepers has always bugged me. If a CH had hit Kos like that it would be a nailed on penno. :|

Can't see that United's midfield is any better than Liverpool's , if our midfield play to their potential and get stuck in then we can win..Always the danger at Old Trafford of a big decision in their favour deciding the game. going for a draw, but obviously hoping for more.

Unfortunately the "Wembley" t shirts are the giveaway. Turns out this is from last season's CL final. Might well have happened last night too though!

What was really pleasing was how we restricted a really creative team like Dortmund's to such few chances - most of which were long range shots. Can't remember our keeper having to make too many saves, and he certainly wasn't as busy as I feared. 8)

By the way, if the club don't offer Sagna a new and improved contract immediately then they need shooting!! :banghead:

It was a nice and tidy defensive performance. Mertesacker and Koscielny are absolute beasts at the back, always rated Kos, nice to see him proving everyone wrong .

Although I'll admit it's a bit shock to see us sit back and let the opponents come to us. The recent teams from 07-12 never let this happen, we'd usually dominate and end up losing anyway  .

But it's a nice sight to see us sorted defensively. Awesome performance, 10/10 would watch again.
