I had a feeling of despair too but only because I felt for him playing in a team low on confidence and belief,the negativity was rubbing off on him,i knew he would come good again but jeez not this good

Only fair that I recap/update the stats that I posted about 18 months ago:

WIN % WITH RAMSEY IN THE STARTING LINE UP:
Up to 52% from 42%

WIN % WITHOUT RAMSEY IN THE STARTING LINE UP:
Down from 61% to 58%

He's surprised lots of us, but even if you've been ultra-critical on here, if you are a true Gooner then you can only be happy to be wrong.

Am absolutely delighted for him. Got a lot of grief last year and, in hindsight, not enough appreciation for what it clearly has taken to get over (mentally and physically) you know what. Well played Aaron.....I really hope to hear the song he finally has belted out.

Amazing what a difference confidence and momentum can make.

I'm not going to sit here and say I always knew he'd turn it around because I didn't. I always knew there was a decent player in there somewhere though - but not this good.

It'll be interesting to see how he handles his first dip in form. Will it consume him and leave him playing another season and a half of stinkers, or will he be able to power through it?

i thought he was done. it seemed to me that he didn't care and would just try anything anywhere. his work rate is much improved too. i thought maybe he was on the bottle or out partying all the time.

whatever it was its stopped and he is looking truly world class, certainly streets above Lampard and Gerrard.

Although I find the term "world class" annoying, because it is completely immeasurable and entirely subjective, as far as I'm concerned you cannot say that Rambo is there (yet). It's way too early.

I know that patience is rare these days, but let's see if he can maintain this form all season. If so, then we've got a monster on our hands.

obviously it could just be an incredible purple patch that will even itself down to more ordinary figures, but if he could turn into our lampard/gerrard (i purely mean a central midfielder that consistently comes up with important goals) i'll be very happy. we haven't been getting many goals from centre mid under wenger, usually falls more to the wide midfielders/wingers, so it's a nice change

One thing I have found a bit mistaken about the reporting on Ramsey is this idea that there had been no signs before this season of a return to form. Imo he had a very solid second half of last season and was a key cog in that run we went on and I remember many times he got into goalscoring positions without putting the ball away. He seems to have refound his goalscoring touch which was one of the things that stood him out when we first signed him. Really pleased for the lad, I felt early on he had the potential to be better then Lampard, the injury clearly set him back a lot just hope he keeps trying to improve and doesn't get complacent.

Andy Townsend enjoyed the plaudits for crass commentary the other night for cheering on Marseille but Clive Tyldesley came out with something more offensive to me. He ridiculed Wenger's claim to have stood by Ramsey and said he was often overlooked last season or thrown out on the right.

Ramsey played a part in 36 of the 38 PL games last season. Playing wide right is an important role for us and Jack was effective when he took up that wing against OM. Wenger took a lot of stick from many of us for persisting with Ramsey. I find it offensive that a commentator would try to take that faith away from AW with lies and inaccuracies. Why on earth would he go out of his way to put that in his commentary?
