Question for IT guys

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Question for IT guys

Post by LeftfootlegendGooner »

Just putting it on here to get better exposure

Is there a decent FREE anti-virus, firewall out there?

Using Kapersy at the moment and it needs renewing soon so was just wondering :rubchin:

Cheers

You can get most programmes for free Lefty if you know where to find them.
Of the freely available ones, AVG is the most obvious choice and Zone alarm firewall is good too... I used to use it. But to be honest with you if you can afford it keep Kaspersky, I use it on all our machines and it has never let me down. :)

I currently use Comodo for both firewall and AV. Previously had just the Comodo firewall and used Avast for antivirus which worked well for many years, but there were some conflicts recently, so switched to Comodo for everything. Takes some tweaking but works well. Also use Antimalwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware as on-demand scanners.

No viruses etc at all, but I avoid the sites most of the degenerates on here visit!

If you use Barclays on-line banking you get Kaspersky for free. Renewable every year for nothing. Worth opening an account with a tenner & joining on-line banking just to get it.

I use AVG just because it's free and works good.
Still every few months I also do a search using cloud system software called Hitman Pro, which really helps with everything, even those fake antivirus viruses who prevent you installing anything.

I just use AVG as well and never had any problems with it. To be honest your first and probably best line of defence is not being a cretin
