People had read about astronomical ticket prices but were still shocked by the £62 figure and that's why it got so much coverage, not because they returned tickets.

I disagree. Why the sudden outrage & coverage at that game? It wasn't the first Cat A game with those prices, we'd charged £62+ before; off the top of my head Chelsea (h) in September '12 and Spurs (h) in November '12. I'm convinced that if City had sold their full allocation we wouldn't have heard a peep about the price they paid.

As I originally said it did make a difference with publicity but it was the first time to my mind that anybody had contacted press, brought in banners etc with reference to a specific game, and what with it not being that important a game and us being convenient fall guys they ran with it.

It wouldn't get half the coverage this time round because the press have already had their fill of pretending to be on the side of the working man and they're more interested in embracing the grossly-inflated financial side of the game that they're supposedly sickened by the rest of the time.

Are they alowed to charge higher prices for the away seat than in the equivalent home seat? I thought there was some regulation about this.

higher than those charged to its own supporters for comparable accommodation and in
particular concessionary rates offered to senior citizens and junior supporters shall apply to
supporters of a Visiting Club.

So, how much are Man City fans being charged for the comparable seats at their place?

I've always thought this was a rule and it's always struck me as one that's likely been flouted year in year out by some clubs.

I guess they say that prices "start from" £47 for adults. I haven't looked at tickets for the game but aren't some of ours in upper tier? I know that some AFC fan groups have campaigned to put away fans in the upper tier so that they'll pay more and the cheaper lower tier tickets would be available for home fans.

Seems like the matchday prices are high and not disimilar for man city or arsenal. I guess they have a pricing sysytem like ours for different clubs.

The biggest difference I can see is that season tickets seem significantly cheaper. Which means if they have a large amount of season ticket holders with large discounts then they will be less affected than Arsenal fans who see little discount on a season ticket.

The PL fund for away fans is bloody useless when you see the price hikes. Man City away and now Newcastle (£44, last time I went - two years ago - it was £35!) and West Ham (£52 FFS).

Seriously considering knocking the £30+ games on the head (which will leave me with a choice of one to two games a year). Bring back Wigan!

Have drastically cut the number of games I go to in the past two seasons as I feel that a lot of tickets no longer represent value for money. £52 quid for WHU is a joke, as is £56/£58 for City especially considering that they charge us more than any other club including Utd Also read that West Ham charged Villa £1 for kids tickets whereas our kids are being charged £29? How the fuck is that on?

What price do tickets have to get to for people to actually stop going? Why are people so reluctant to give it up? Worried that people won't think they're some kinda superfan if they don't attend every single game? Fuck that, if you want ticket prices to come down, people need to stop buying them en-masse. You can have twice as much fun watching the game in the boozer for £30.

This. The United game this year was far too steep, so we went to Dortmund away and decided to watch the United game at the local. Bung £30 each in the whip and you've got a good day. As long as people are going to pay, clubs will charge it. Pretty much as simple as that really.
