i think this squad is much better than 07/08. our creative players then were cesc, rosicky, hleb and diaby. you have to admit cazorla, ozil, rambo, wilshere, rosicky are better choices and better depth, just like per/koscielny is a much improved partnership over gallas/fat touré, and szczesny is far superior to almunia. holding midfielder was flamini covered by an aging gilberto and denilson - now we have arteta and a more mature flamini.
Conveniently leaving out the most important factor though. In 2007/08 we had Adebayor in the best form of his career, Eduardo really settling into the English game and van Judas and we still had nowhere near enough depth in that area come Feb/March, we currently have Giroud only. We have some great strengths but our rivals have an embarrassment of riches in comparison up top with Aguero/Negredo/Dzeko/Jovetic, Suarez/Sturridge and Rooney/van Judas/Hernandez/Welbeck.

Anyway, very good win today. Bossed the first half and deservedly led, needed a great save from Szczesny to dig us out in the second but all three of our goals were ruthless and instinctive. Pressure on everyone else now.

Brilliant result. We are where we were in 2007/08.Now we need to do what we didnt do then make two signings in january.Giroud is out on his feet

Ramsey was magnificent followed by Szczesny. That save at 1-0 was as good as a goal

And i think Wenger has finally found Walcotts best position as many of us have said for years. An impact sub

Sorry Bg - I agree Rambo was outstanding as was BFG - Shez also played well..But Ozil and Santi weren't at the races today...Ozil's best moment was his assist for Rambo to hea dhome...But he loooks dog tired and needs to be rested,

Santi gave the ball away and made too many errors in the wrong parts of the field (ie: our half).

Rambo our best player closesly followed by the BFG and JW.

A good win at a difficult place. awesome support today. :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

great result - another clean sheet too away from home. i don't know whether its the midfield protecting the back four better, or Stevie Stevie Bould working with them, but we seem hard to break down. we've conceded just two goals in eight games.

i like the fact we could be 1-0 up away from home and not panic, and we had wally and flam come on and both make an impact.

however, i'm still concerned by two things - how we'll deal with being 1-0 or 2-0 down i.e. Plan B. we have been consistently been able to get an early goal and build on it or hold it, which is our A game, The best Arsenal teams could fight back at these northern grounds like Bolton, Wigan sunderland etc which we haven't had to do yet apart from the OT loss.

my other worry is how we'll deal with the pace and movement of world class forwards. the City Game is massive i think.

if we win against Hull and Everton - which we should, stoke are shite now...a draw against City could be a massive massive result - especially as City are away at Southampton when we play the Toffees.

the pressure is certainly on Mourinho, Moyes and Pelligrini to catch up - which means they are vulnerable to teams going for the home draw or away point.

10 points in December leaves us top by January 1st and probably the end of January.

I am cautiously hopeful and praying Olly's going to get a rest soon.

I wouldn't say Ozil was at his glittering best but he was definitely better than recently imo. He never stopped looking for the ball and the way in which he's able to pick up the ball, dart through a tight space 15 yards and drag in two opposition players before slipping the ball infield to a team-mate lays the platform for our fluid attacking game.

Cross for the first goal was brilliant too. Just about anybody else would have tried to lift the ball in and even if it was inch-perfect it would have been difficult for Ramsey to control and the defender would have had time to get back and make things difficult at least, great presence of mind to fire the cross in instead.

Agree Markyp

a 3-0 victory is a massive statement of intent where other title chasers have failed so far.

Could we actually do it !!

Super result , just like the wins away at Millwall , Blackburn etc in title winning years .

The test will be Chelsea and citeh , it might be that Chelsea need to win at our place and a draw might not be a bad result but we all want the win that will make us look like we have a chance .

Come January don't expect Wenger to go out and strengthen the areas reqd like another forward , he won 't and then Giroud will get injured .

Don ' t get me wrong , this season has been great , but nothing is won yet and come the new year will deja vu strike yet again for the 8th successive season ?

Hmm... the scoreline is a little misleading. We got the last 2 goals (86', 90') when Cardiff were chasing the game.

A win was fair, but big big thank you to Chesney for a top class save to keep us in front 8)

I completely agree about Ozil and Santi. Mesut looks mentally and physically tired, but fortunately moments of class still come through. I'm hoping it's just the more physical nature of the PL and that he'll sharpen up.
Playing Santi out wide, especially away from home, always worries me. I love him in the middle but he's prone to give the ball away and is poor defensiveness. I only saw the first half but we're still missing something out wide and look a bit unbalanced.
Still, top of the league, Scum can't score, and individuals and the team looking stronger. Another striker away from really challenging. Happy days.

disagree mate. ozil was excellent all game, didn't give the ball away at all and when needed gave some brilliant touches. both assists were class. he seems like he disappears every now and then, but his movement off the ball and his technique are out of this world. if you remember well, Dennis The Lord used to be like that a bit as well.

agree on santi though. hasn't been the same this season, but we all know what is capable of so i'd guess he just needs some more game time to get settled with ozil and ramsey mkII

hmm... we're showing progress. I think to keep referring to the 8 years is unfair on the players... that's not their burden to carry so if this group continues to fight and stay focused, but ultimately fall short of winning a trophy, I will be content. PROGRESS is the important thing.

Not sure about us signing a striker though. I think there's a chance we'll bring someone in, but also think there's a chance Wenger will use Podolski as giroud's understudy.

BBC said Ozil made the Flamini goal too.

an interview with Caz mid week said Ozil is playing deeper which is reducing his goals and assists but he draws players to him and frees up space for Jack, Ramsey and Giroud, as well as always being available for a pass to keep moves going.

that is a quality that Pires had and TH14 to some extent - teams can't afford to leave him in space cos he'll kill em.

i would like to see Ozil given a rest too - if Rosicky stays fit, or even with his confidence right now, Ramsey could play further forward in the #10 slot.
