Re: Hull game
Raymond Verheijen actually has some very interesting ideas on fitness conditioning, especially regarding pre-season. He was very outspoken after leaving City and slammed their pre-season training methods, saying that it was the reason they had such a ridiculous number of muscle fibre injuries in the early months of the season
Can't pretend that I've actually got a fucking clue about sports science but be interesting to hear what he had to say about us if he spent a few weeks studying our methods etc.

Re: Hull game
If he rests any of the key players for this one he needs his head testing. I remember sampling our wonderful squad rotation last year first hand when Blackburn came to town and we sacrificed the cup we can win for the one that we can't. The shuffling of the pack worked a fucking treat against Chelsea reserves this season too
The midfield is interchangeable but the defence and strikers are not.......problems that are self inflicted of course following another Summer of under investment in those areas

thin squad and upcoming games against City and Chelsea.Midz wrote:Hull are a Premiership team. What makes this an exercise for us to rest players?
I know three points is three points but if we can keep those chav crunts at arms length by not losing to them due to injuries and tiredness then its worth a risk imho.
plus gnabry and wally need a run out, they need the pressure to perform - better tonight than being thrown in cold at City or against the chavsterers due to the inevitable injury to Giroud and or Ozil.
the PL is a marathon not a sprint.
i think we are ripe for a hatful tomorrow night - they're no Southampton in terms of fitness, and they just played 48 hrs ago plus they have a 4 hour coach journey down the M1 today.
4-0.

Re: Hull game
its not like past years when its a Squillaci coming in - Monreal, Walcott, Flamini, Rosicky and even TV (although id leave the CBs alone) are all more than able to come in - you have to use the squad.
Giroud will start id imagine

Re: Hull game
I hate saying this but the one player that I wouldnt want to rest is ramsey - yes I agree that giroud is irreplaceable at the mo (dearth of alternatives
) but ramsey is in the form of his life and I wouldnt want to knock that. I doubt if anybody expects his form to last the season so for me the time to rest him is when his form starts to dip. Yes I know that some will say that fatigue could play a part in a players loss of form but I feel that taking him out of the line up will disrupt his flow and could prematurely end his run of form
If people are serious about our chances of silverware then surely this is one of the games that we can rest players ?
I mean ye cant go and talk big about our chances of winning trophies this season and then be afraid of playing hull at home
I dont think that we are strong to win a trophy this season but I do believe we should be able to rotate somewhat tonight cos if we cant beat hull at home then we have no place talking about ourselves as a top 6 club much less a top 2 or 3 club
2-0 or 3-1 to us

Re: Hull game
See i WOULD rest Ramsey, it worked a treat v Norwich and it didnt hinder him at all (although granted he came on after 30 mins anyway). Its a huge 3-4 weeks coming up, if we can negotiate this then we are right in it, although i actually tihnk it will be Ozil and Wilshere out for Walcott and Rosicky

Fatigue is the cause of most injuries tbf mate, hamstrings especially are at risk of injury when a player is fatigued.augie wrote:I hate saying this but the one player that I wouldnt want to rest is ramsey - yes I agree that giroud is irreplaceable at the mo (dearth of alternatives) but ramsey is in the form of his life and I wouldnt want to knock that. I think we can rest a few players and still win comfortably.
Re: Hull game
Was feeling pretty confident but have been struck by a case of nervousness this afternoon. Just got a feeling the nutty professor might pull off some wacky rotation that could cost us...

Re: Hull game
Every game has dangers , hidden or obvious. This is no different, all things being correct we should win but as we know far too well it doesn't always work like that. I can see the sense in rotation but am against it. Three points on the line , take the games as they come.
