He could have been had for 50m in the summer I reckon. Shame we never pulled the trigger. Not too late though, I bet he's still interested in joining us. Need to go back in for him next month and test the waters. If he kicks up a fuss again the mousers will struggle to keep him.

He's the missing piece in our puzzle. If we get him, we'd piss the league and become CL contenders.
I agree but i can't see Liverpool letting him go under any circumstances.
60m + player desire may just do it.

Well that would be an outstanding result but would also be the demise of Liverpool which i think they know and would want to avoid. Surely though he's got to be valued higher than Bale.

Suarez will will be 27 years old., and have four years left on his deal from the summer [EDIT 1989: one website says four years, another says two].
His age is key, as a five year deal would be what a new club should get, with his resale value in final year age 31 possibly around the £20M mark?

I believe that would make him worth a little less than the younger Bale.

I reckon would take an offer of £60M to start the bidding, final price to be £77M .

Accept the age argument but I think he's a better player than Bale but probably more relevant would be Liverpool seeing what has happened to Spurs after cashing in on their key player - that makes me think they would have a super premium on Suarez.

If the cannibal gets his move away from the victims then it will be to real Madrid and no-one else - if we wouldn't go over £40m (+ £1  ) in the summer, then his price is sure to have risen considerably since especially if it is a domestic rival that is looking to buy him

Right now I think that berbatov will be our January signing - reasonably priced, technically good and not cup tied for champs league so he will tick all the right boxes for wenker :banghead:

Agree with that. If 40M wasn't enough in the summer and Liverpool were expecting "Bale like" money then we certainly have no chance now.

I was really surprised when Wenger said he didnt know Berbatov was available when he moved to Fulham :banghead: :banghead: .

For me Ozil reminds me of a Berbatov type of character, seems to be almost asleep then pulls off a stupendous move

Seems an unwenger like transfer though, AW so seldom goes for anyone over 30, think thats one of his biggest failings as a manager myself . Still think Berbatov has at least another 2 seasons in him, he relys more on position and vision than pace. The extreme was Sherringham in that way.

Would he be motivated enough though as he wouldnt get in often ahead of Giroud surely?

According to Suarez, his contract lasts until 2018:

"Yes, we should talk this June or the next one, in 2014. My contract ends in 2018."

Anyway it looks like he is happy to stay in Liverpool:

He'd cost at least £55m now.

The president of Belgian side Standard “10-0 on aggregate” Liege has revealed that Arsenal have approached them about their young striker Michy Batshuayi.

funnily enough, i think RVP may jump at champions league football next year - if united don't make the top 4 and we do i think he'll be 'desparate' to leave. he's 31 in August.
