it can - by a side with pace and quality that needs some players back from injury, and maybe a little coaching and tinkering, but they don't have the squad.
the question is , where do they pick the 8 & 12 points up where we, chavs and city don't Steve ?
basically all of the top three need to lose 3 more games each than united AND lose to them too.
had united won their last two games, then i'd agree with you - but they picked up just 1 point.
they are done for the season imho.[/quote
I think they're done in terms of winning the league, I don't see them making up the points on us, Citeh and Chavs. Not because it's impossible because United have pegged back big deficits before and if they hit their stride second half of the season even a massive lead can be squandered in the space of 5 or 6 games if things go pear-shaped.
However, although I'm sure they'll have at least one cracking run where they'll win 7 out of 8 or something along those lines I don't see them having the consistency for the rest of the season to keep the pressure on. Their fear factor has gone and whereas in the past they could rely on winning at least 10 home games without having to turn up, everybody is now going there fancying their chances. The gift of the 3 points against us should really have acted as a springboard for their season but in their next 3 winnable games they've dropped 7 points.
I think they're still capable of catching us without doubt, also Chelsea and probably Citeh. I could see both of our fortunes completely turning later on in the season and I'm not even remotely convinced Chavs are the real deal. But all 3? Not a chance for me.
They have Gollum in charge and an average ageing squad. They'll be lucky to finish top 4.
But they've got superstar Fellaini......the bloke who was just what we needed eh mate ?
