usual thread starter… right then, there’s been plenty of discussion about tomorrow night already, so here’s a question that might not have been asked. Apart from that obvious night in May 1989, which Arsenal trip to Anfield has been your favourite?
Think for me the 2003-04 “Unbeatablesâ€
Attack! Attack! Attack! (7/4)
For me, one game at Anfield ranks up there with my favourite ever Arsenal games...never mind just at Anfield.
December 21st, 2001. Liverpool 1-2 Arsenal.
Van Bronckhorst was sent off in the 36th minutes, making it an uphill task to beat an on form Liverpool team, who, if they won, would be top at Christmas.
A penalty from Henry, and a goal from Ljungberg made it 2-0. Litmanen brought it back to 2-1 in the 55th minutes, and it was a tense match after that..but we held on.
Great performance.
A repeat of that tomorrow night would do nicely

KEep the Faith
"Keep the faith", I've heard that before....honestly, I am not very optimistic, I said this before the Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge, look what happened....keeping the faith isn't everything....we lack in depth and that is what led to our downfall.....we blew it ......no silverware this year too....with rosicky out for the rest of the season...we'll have to do with Eboue or Diaby.....schmuck......Arsene Wenger doesn't seem like a great manager now does he???....
WENGER:"Having a large squad means you can't keep all the players happy"
Well who cares about happiness......happiness comes free with trophies doesn't it???......but according to Wenger, winning trophies isn't everything......If Abrahamovic owned Arsenal, Arsene would be unemployed a long time ago....but being a true gooner, I'm glad he doesn't......Maybe this was a year too soon.....

I've got two recollections on Anfield. One from the 90/91 season when Magic Man Merson scored the winner in a 1-0 win. He raced clear of the defence and tucked it past Grobbelaar (I think) and it trickled over the line in slow motion as he ran towards the delirious travelling Gooners - a photo which was used on the front cover of issue 25. Memory may be playing tricks but I think this was their first home game after Dalglish had resigned as manager and we mocked them constantly.
The other memory is from the 88/89 season... no, not that one - the Ed banned mentions of that game in his thread opening. This was in the league cup third round and was before we really believed we might have the beating of them in the league that season. We dominated the game, yet fell behind, but a thunderbolt from the edge of the area by Rocky earned us a thoroughly deserved draw. We may have lost the second replay, but I'm sure George drew on this performance in his team talk when we had to return there later in the season to get an even better result!

I was at the above game too in '91 and it was the first game after Dalglish resigned we were all singing the "DALGLISH" song. Still makes me smile now. Well taken goal by Merson and we all went wild in the away end. Have to say i remember being disappointed by the noise of the kop it was v quiet.
