Spot on, should never start ahead of any of our other midfielders, unless someone is being rested for an easy home gameStuartL wrote:Got caught time after time, attempting to take someone on, get tackled and lay down hoping for a foul.
It happens too often Jack, time to change or be dropped.
Jack Wilshere

I've defended him many times this season but today he was simply awful. If he played for another team I'd hate his fucking guts to be honest the amount of times he falls to the ground and moans to the ref (done that at least 3 or 4 times today)
Him and Flamoney were both absolute ***** today

All I will say is that it took Ramsey ages to get to top form after his lengthy injury.

Fair point Quartz, but when he is struggling to find that form and we have Rosicky / Carzola on the bench as options he should be taken off - he cost us big time yesterday (not him alone, obviously)QuartzGooner wrote:All I will say is that it took Ramsey ages to get to top form after his lengthy injury.

Such a fucking pussy. Gets blown off the ball too easy. When you're in midfield it's war, you have to stand up and be counted but the amount of times he gets bossed off the ball is shocking. Man the fuck up Jack you're not a kid anymore. He was rested midweek and yet he's fucking plodding around the place yesterday like a pub player who'd smoked 20 woodbines before the match. Shameful performance and YES I am hungover

Re: Jack Wilshere the most over rated player in English foot
he had a stinker yesterday, all his shortcomings were exposed, but then weren't the team as a whole shown up.why is it when we play any of the big guns we look so inept?our passing and possession go out the window and the ball looks like a hot potato.im convinced to win the EPL these days you need big players as in size wise ala viera/petit,short technically good players will never cut it against big and strong technically good players which comes to my other point,Wally if beefed up a bit would be another level,he wouldn't get shrugged off the ball so easily,im amazed the backroom staff don't get him hitting the weights after training, but then ive not worked 30 years in football

I reckon he will come good. Rooney was pretty meh around 2005-2009.

I don't think Rooney was meh and then suddenly improved tremendously. I think he's always been a very good player who has had three phenomenal half-seasons before returning to his previous level.spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:I reckon he will come good. Rooney was pretty meh around 2005-2009.

plus, wilshire has only ever shown glimpses of potential, rooney was the real deal when he was 20. mindless comparison
Re: Jack Wilshere the most over rated player in English foot
Jack needs to get back to doing the simple things well. What I really liked about him when he first broke through was that he didn't often give the ball away and seemed like a naturally intelligent user of the ball. Now whether its down to fitness or confidence (or both), he seems to put his head down and run into blind alleys. He gave the ball away far too often yesterday to the point that when he got it I almost knew the attack was coming to an end
I'm not giving up on him because I think there's a very good player in there, but he needs to go back to basics

Re: Jack Wilshere the most over rated player in English foot
Part of Jack's problem is he looks like a player who is impatiently trying to make up for the time he has lost. Also, it will be difficult for him to come to terms with the fact he is no longer England's and Arsenal's blue eyed boy. I agree with Quartz that it will take him time to discover the form and consistency we expect. His impatience may be compounded by this being a World Cup year but he needs to be patient.
I think Quartz's comparison to Ramsey highlights a difference between the two young men. Ramsey kept going through the flak and taunts. I don't know if Jack has the maturity to work through this period without the bad tempered petty gestures we saw yesterday.

That's where I stand too - I really still believe that there is a great player inside him but it is time now that he steps up to the required level or he will be yet another of footballs unfulfilled potential stars

What I will say is jack's defence is that he is not and never will be a winger - imo he is has been fcuked about royally by the c*nt in charge by being the latest in a long line of players being shunted out to the wing due to wenkers policy of overloading the squad with small central playmakers

Abou will be back in the New Year and the midfield will be perfect once more

yup.SteveO 35 wrote:Jack needs to get back to doing the simple things well.
run tackle pass. thats all he needs to do.
i think mentally he wants to be cesc or Ramsey - creative or a goal scorer. i think he's frustrated by his own limitations - some players like flamini, parlour or groves can accept it.
the emergence of ross barkley as the next 'england superstar' might actually help him.
and to be honest, i also think he's a bit thick. so many examples of chav like behaviour and yesterday was one of them.
he's 22 next month, imho he's got 2-3 years to make or break it, right now he's behind flami and Ramsey and should be on the bench.

Re: Jack Wilshere the most over rated player in English foot
I tend to agree - if he played for anyone else I don't think I'd warm to him much. I do though think he's got talent but on current form he should be used as a flat track bully against 'lesser' teams, as he tends climbs out the pram when he doesn't get his own way.clockender1 wrote:yup.SteveO 35 wrote:Jack needs to get back to doing the simple things well.

Not yet disciplined enough to be starting must-win matches.
