The Scum Thread/Stadium Redevelopment

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

AVB is still a very proud man and he'd probably get better jobs on the continent.

I just can't imagine WBA being the slight bit interesting to him.

I once dubbed AVB a very promising manager like many of us here. But the failure and Chelsea and Spurs show his flaws. His stupid defensive line that even Arsene got rid of, after being ruthlessly exposed. At Spurs stuck using formations that yield no goals, agreeing with Baldini/whoever to bring in a bunch overpriced DMs and one AM.

Levy's might hold a tight rein on finances but imo only harry was a real success and he ..sacked him. One Day Ramos' stint was hilarious. Levy is culpable in this too, it's his set up and it bombed.

Having said that the season could still have been salvaged. Oh well, nice distraction from our weekend pummelling.

AVB finished last season a point behind a manager who has won nothing for 9 years and will be offered a 4 year £8m a year contract by our dumb board.AVB is a shit manager but so is Wenger

I find it strange that some Gooners say lets laugh at the Spuds 2 days after we got are arses whacked.Yeah we didnt let in 6 goals

whilst I think we'll end trophyless, and we'll never make up for years of underinvestment in one summer, we are top of the league  and they're god knows where.

it wasn't the thrashing the media are trying to paint it as, we scored three and could have had another two with a competant linesman, don't know why some on here try to ruin a thread laughing at the scum with this shit :?

Thought the same thing. Was fuming when the media were giving it "Arsenal got the same treatment as Tottenham at City" this weekend :banghead: Eh?! We fucking scored three and had another two disallowed for offside calls that were arguably incorrect.

They got bumholed six fucking zero.

Pity, I was really starting to warm to the guy

Was always going to be a massive ask this year - not only a case of 'replacing' Bale as a player but coming up with a whole new way of playing. And of course there is the glass ceiling in terms of attracting players and wage bill that their fans conveniently overlook. But even then he pissed the money away. On one hand credit to them for not pissing around for the sake of a mil or two but really the money they spent on the likes of Lamela and Soldado was ridiculous, even they could have got far better players for that sort of money.

The club needed patience which their moronic fans didn't appreciate, but half a season down and no viable signs of progress. They might as well just have given him the season because they're not going to get top 4 and we're going to knock them out the FA Cup - plus the list of mid-season candidates is somewhat shorter - but the nature of those two absolute wallopings forced Levy's hand in some ways.

Have to say, I will literally piss myself if they appoint capello - this is a guy whose english didnt improve one jot in all the time he was engerland manager and whose arrogance has gone off the charts in recent years
Exactly, just like Wenger did last season (after selling RVP) and the season before (selling Cesc and Nasri). It's a difficult task to maintain momentum when you sell your best players + captains (and even Song and Clichy were first team regulars). As you say... football doesn't work like that.

This season we sold nobody and brought players in, and you can see the difference. Progress at last!

Nope, sorry augie, but his constant use of a high defensive line was found out pretty quickly and he hasn't learned how to handle the media or player egos.

He may come good but he's far too thin skinned and callow at present.

3 seasons ago I stated that I would be prepared to give wenker another chance if he wiped the decks clean (got rid of shite like bendtner, diaby, song etc etc) and rebuilt around players like cesc and rvp - I accepted that if he did the necessary back then, it would bear no fruits for at least 2 or 3 seasons but at least for me it would signal of acceptance that his strategy was failing and a willingness to move in a new direction. Now 3 years on we have lost the world class talents we had but much of the dross remains and we are stuck with the same flawed tactical approach and have wasted the 3 years so wenker is not entitled to any more chances based on losing his captains.
