Groundhog summer transfer window thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

At least not to Arsenal. If he just thinks for a moment about moving, Mourinho will send a plane full of money down there + Torres and offered him 200k per week. We can't win money games.

So which shirt number will Ba choose?
Ba isn't coming :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Mourinho wouldn't let him join us in the Summer so even if he signed another striker he'd let him go abroad or back to Newcastle ahead of joining us

Anyway, its an ex-Chelsea striker who might be coming.........and McDowell was warned about it a good couple of years back now. And that is a.......FACT

'Arsenal are watching Atlètico Madrid striker Diego Costa ahead of potential January transfer window move'

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -move.html

I can't wait for this not to happen.

Another nearly signing:

"Messi could have signed for Arsenal in the past. He was in talks with them when they signed Cesc Fabregas. Arsenal had deals with Fabregas and Gerard Pique" Balague said.

"Fabregas signed and Pique, even though he wanted to sign, didn't do it because his agent change his mind at the last moment. And they also tried to sign Messi then.

"There was contact but Barcelona convinced [Messi] to stay. Anyway Arsenal told Messi that if anytime he had problems at Barcelona they would be interested in him."

That's the fucking best of the 'nearly men'. Imagine our virtual attacking line up of Messi, Ibrahimovic and Drogba, being supplied by Mata and Yaya Toure.

Oh and by the way......

Messi isn't coming

With the virtual Ronaldo, Messi, Yaya, Mata, Bale, Ibrahimovic and Drogba we'd be virtual champions. The virtual Higuain wouldn't get a look in

Heard stories we were close to signing George Best in 1970 and Maradonna in 83. I say "stories" but you could easily substitute that with "voices".

Finally......this sounds a lot more like it

Arsenal will go head-to-head with Italian side Roma to sign 21-year-old Auxerre striker Paul-Georges Ntep.

Full story: Daily Star

Ntep might be coming :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

.....but as expected

Arsenal have been scouting Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, 25, but remain doubtful about their prospects of signing him in January.

Full story: Daily Telegraph

Diego Costa isn't coming

Luis Suarez isn't coming...

Seriously:

"Luis Suárez has committed his future to Liverpool by signing a new long-term contract to take him to 2018.

His current contract, which was due to expire in two and half years, pays him £120,000 a week, but under the terms of the new four-and-a-half year deal that will rise to £170,000 a week for this season, and then £200,000 per week for the remainder of the contract."

He'll still demand to move when Liverpool's season implodes and they aren't in CL next year and City or Madrid come knocking. The same fans who were saying he's a disgrace who should be sold in the summer will crawl back out of the woodwork and the cycle will repeat itself.

The new contract will of course be enough justification for Lord Wenger to say in January how none of the top clubs want to sell their best players (even more reason for getting it done in Summer you cretin).

Arsenal as ever will now be deterred from going after him, respecting the fact he's signed a new deal whilst Real Madrid or Barcelona will use the World Cup period to tap him up should the Mickeys fail to qualify for the CL and won't take no for answer despite the protestations coming from Anfield

The difference between a club willing to strive to be the best and one that settles for 4th best

Oh well......I'm sure Kalou is still coming
