Jack Wilshere

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Looks like bits have been added here and there along the way on this thread, merging other thread headers though, its not all Sids work surely

more members may be likely to post if the thread as it does now have a more moderate title. I guess mods are there to moderate

In the general scheme of things t's a fairly insignificant thread on a fairly insignificant football forum mate, not the fecking Magna Carta!! :banghead: :banghead: Jesus Christ, the way you are going on it would seem the whole of modern democracy was the at stake, not the merits of a subtle changing of a thread title that DIDN'T impact on the message intended!!

Mate. Now your calling peoples threads "insignificant" just because it suits you?

Sids thread was no more or less "significant" than any other.
Its not really up to you to change thread titles unless it breaks forum rules. Or decide how significant they are? Wouldn't you agree?
Sid wanted it worded that way..... otherwise ...well, hed have worded it differently.

What about the Bendtner thread. Been up for ages now. Disrespecting an Arsenal player, calling him a "useless *word censored*" in the title? In my opinion thats more worty of a title change.

Just admit it Hlebby- you should not have changet it. Change it back

I don't agree with sid's assessment of wilshere and think that he might be going a bit ott but at the same time, I do agree with armchair when he disagreed with the changing of the thread title - genuine opinions should be discussed and debated on here and not just changed cos of over sensitive souls

Have to say though sid, that I do feel that you are being hyper critical of young jack - maybe that stems from the fact that we all had the highest of high expectations for a Gooner that played like it meant as much to him as it does to us. Hand on heart he has been woeful for some time now - that could be cos he is still battling back to fitness (though I am not sure how long that excuse can be valid) but it really worries me that the real reason is that he has lost his guts and courage. He now looks to go down at the slightest hint of contact and that wasn't his form so I am really worried that he is collapsing cos he is afraid of getting injured again.

On a more serious level, can I just say that your presence here has been badly missed sid - I liked the opinions that you brought to the table but you should post more often cos it does look like you only pop in now to slate wilshere and that doesn't do your credibility justice :(

I was one of those that thought the thread title and insinuation was shit and expressed that opinion but in no way whatsoever am I sensitive as anyone who's read any of my posts or jokes would surely understand this.

What I do believe though that this thread is very similar to the one slating Ramsey (who I also defended and said would come good 8) ).

My utter belief is that some on here start threads and post ludicrous amounts of ridiculous claims and statements just to crave attention and try and convince themselves and us that they are "ground breaking".

The truth is they are just lonely

I genuinley think two of sid's human rights have been breached by IHH by changing this title and for this I think he should change any future thread title IHH makes from now on 8)

LFGL I know what you mean but I think this was a genuine view and not wholly unreasonable. The media's perception of Wilshere (especially post-Brazil) was completely at odds with the level of performance Wilshere was turning in every week at the time of the original post and as I said it fostered some decent debate and found people on opposite sides of the line to what they normally would.

Tbh most overrated player in English football or over-rated? - doesn't really seem worth the bother to actually change it.

And I am largely agreeing with you but I just don't think the thread title should have been changed that is all 8)

The thing that really bothers me is that the English media hyped jack up to be the saviour of their national team and now that barkley is the new great hope, they have dropped jack like a hot snot :x How much does something like that fcuk with the confidence of any young man ? Hero today and a nobody tommorrow  :x

I had already put a post on this thread about this, but to further explain some Moderator Policies:

We will change the odd thread title or edit posts because of:

1.) Spelling corrections

2.) Offensive posts/Posts that could get Forum closed

3.) Relevance/Updates

i.e. Walcott thread started as to whether he would sign his contract, once he signed it the thread title was changed to a more general discussion of what position he plays in and his form.

4.) Comedy

i.e. Most readers here are regulars. They usually know the threads.
The transfer thread will run for a few month before each window (usually posted by McDowell42) and so as the transfer deadline nears, we might change the name of the thread to have a bit of laugh.

In the case of the Wilshere thread, I changed it for reason number four.
I did not find the original title offensive or contrary to Forum policy, it seemed fair enough.
But after a while the subject matter had as good as been discussed. I noticed some Forum members were offended, and so took the opportunity to change the title to reflect a more general discussion about Wilshere's form and temperament.
I felt Michael Owen was fair game, his repeated mispronounciation of Jack's surname to be unprofessional.

In many cases where things are changed, we Private Message the original poster.
But sometimes we do not.
If anyone feels strongly about a change, just PM one or two of the Mods and we can explain why we made a change and possibly change it back.
