0-4. Mourinho has it over Wenger tactically. Wenger is too predictable, partly because our squad is too small i.e Mourinho has a good idea of who will be playing and the formation they will be in, partly because Wenger is too stubborn to do something different.

Re: Chavs at home
Its been confirmed a storm will hit southern england this afternoon/evening. How much of an impact that will have on the capital remains to be seen. However, the wind will be blowing in from the south so if you are in the north lower expect to get soaked, if it really is windy I wouldn't be surprised if the rain blew into club level/upper tiers too. I saw some gooners with bin liners last time it pissed down at the emirates, given the club don't give a shit and wont hand out ponchos etc it may not be a bad option even if you look like a right plonker!northbank123 wrote:Would be surprised if it was cancelled based on the reports I've heard. My reading is that some fans from outside London may have trouble coming in later on in the day but the club won't want it cancelled. There's no danger of them being held accountable (unlike icy concourse) and they don't have to refund anybody who can't make it, unless the ground is literally going to be half-full they'll want it played.Chippy wrote:Anyone wondering about the impact of the weather on this? Might be cancelled? And/or a lot of gooners not able to get home. At least neither team has the League Cup to bugger up an early re-arranged fixture.

I reckon it is 50/50 whether this game is going to go ahead.
Reminds me of a few years ago when a game was called off due to sudden heavy snow.
It all depends on whether the transport network holds up or not

1-3 to the Chavs, the 'special one' can't lose to the 'only one' (who knows)!

That was a no brainer tbh, it absolutely chucked it down with snow from lunch onwards. This is as much to do with how heavy the winds are and what it will be like travelling in by public transport. Just seen the morning forecast they are talking about gusts of 70mph tonight.Gunner Rob wrote:I reckon it is 50/50 whether this game is going to go ahead.

Yeah the thing about snow/ice is there is far more potential liability on the club because people are at risk of slipping around the concourse. If it's a case of 5,000 empty seats or whatever the club would rather it be played as they get the ticket money and it avoids fixture congestion and wasted costs that come with rearranging.nut flush gooner wrote:That was a no brainer tbh, it absolutely chucked it down with snow from lunch onwards. The game won't be rearranged unless they have to start closing a number of major roads and there's a genuine possibility fans will be stranded.

Even if it goes ahead the weather is going to play a major part - what is the drainage like at Emitates as there looks to be an unbelievable amount of rain forecast

Probably the best in the prem, heavy rain isnt the issue really unless theres a hailstorm like last week at the stoke game.Gunner Rob wrote:Even if it goes ahead the weather is going to play a major part - what is the drainage like at Emitates as there looks to be an unbelievable amount of rain forecast
The wind will play a factor, trees coming down around the ground could cause all sorts of problems/hazards. Roads will be chocka anyway. I wouldn't be surprised to see trains disrupted with overhead lines coming down. Tonight is gonna be fun !

The funny thing is that on the whole things have been really positive with us having our longest run on top for many years but with wenger not bringing in a back up for a very average Giroud we could end up with our worst finish for years . The Premier league is so close with teams like Everton and Liverpool seriously challenging us for our 4th place.
Tonight Chelsea will just sit behind the ball , soak up the pressure and hit us on the break .

But here is the very problem of the modern Wenger era. I think Armchair summed it up best when he said we're always a couple of players away from being a complete team. A few years ago the world and his dog we're screaming at Lord Wenger to sign a decent keeper and we watched years of Al, Flapper and Mannone-kokey chucking away vital points and cups. We had the same issue post Vieira when everyone saw the need for a decent CDM and he let Gilberto, Diarra and Statue Man all leave at the same time.shu wrote:The funny thing is that on the whole things have been really positive with us having our longest run on top for many years but with wenger not bringing in a back up for a very average Giroud we could end up with our worst finish for years . If we put together the best 11 players we've had at the club over the past 5-6 years at various points in time it would truly be a squad worthy of being championship contenders. But the Wenger project never finishes. Once upon a time we were spoilt for strikers.....now we pray that our one reasonable forward doesn't get injured because we have Championship standard back up strikers. Massively frustrating
