The Scum Thread/Stadium Redevelopment

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Great result today - it keeps Sherwood in the job, where we want him. A loss today could of brought about a quick exit and a potential quality replacement.

Watching the Premier League years on Sky this morning reminds me just how many laughs they've given us over the years. This morning's highlights from 08/09 included Ramos's 2 point start and spending the Berbatov proceeds on Corluka and Pavlyuchenko. Nice to see they learned their lessons with the Bale transfer ! Lamela anyone?

I think it's more the fact that Utd are shit. Can't believe we went there and gave our usual lame duck performance, 3pts are really there for the taking at Old Toilet this season for many teams...

EDIT: 2-0 spurs

Exactly - as posted on the today's games thread. A defence containing Evra, Smalling and Evans and the Dad's Army midfield and we rock up with central midfielders out wide and two containing midfielders

For me, the most disappointing gutless performance of the season so far when we rolled over up there

more comedy gold today - vertonghen says he's leaving if the spuds fail to reach CL football again.

apparently losses to Dnipro and Norwich are not wowing one of Europes best defenders.

I think he'd make a very good DM in the Lahm mode FWIW.

Vertonghen is very very average.

Think that's harsh, he's got ability and he's versatile.

Spurs' defence is so perpetually unsettled, having an established defence who know each other's games will bring more out of all of them. Both our centre-halves have adjusted and improved their games but remember how dire and rash Koscielny looked and how clumsy and easily exposed Mertesacker was - they haven't suddenly gone from being shit to fantastic, they've both been aided immensely by playing in a consistent back 5.

Not saying Vertonghen is top drawer but you have to take that into account.

he's good enough for a good beligian team - he said he'll decide his future after the WC . it'll be intersting to see how he does against USSR and then in the knock out rounds.

Apparently Levy has been having talks with Louis van Gaal. Decent manager

Also for those wondering about the whereabouts of SteveO...

ESPN understands that the club have held extensive talks with Van Gaal, who again hinted at the possibility of taking over at Spurs while attending the Euro 2016 qualifying draw on Sunday. "Maybe Tottenham are coming," he said.

Just a theory, albeit built upon very tenuous evidence
