THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Surely the stats mean that we're not that far off.
Stats are what you make them......statistically, Denilson was one of the best passers in the Premier league.......but we all know most of them were 5 yards and backwards!!

Performance is relevant against resources available. Arsey Wonga - One of the highest paid managers in world football with one of the highest salary budgets in Europe, has, for the last 8 years, assembled at best, an 'ok' squad. In that time he has not only made a high number of mistakes, but he has made many of them over and over without seemingly 'learning' from his poor decisions. Also during that time, there are many 'questionable' things he has said in public, ranging from outright lies to hugely embarrassing comments that make the club look very bad.
Great manager? No, if he had left after 9 years.....yes. But he has long since damaged that legacy beyond repair imo.
One decent season this season, will not make everything perfect (to a lot of Gooners), and realistically, we have just one trophy to win, the PL because the CL is miles out of reach and the FA cup will be thrown away as usual, quite probably this weekend?

I myself felt he had to go last season and the season before. Having looked closer at the grand scheme of things Arsene has done a fantastic job with the resources he's had. Top 4 year in, year out with a limited budget. Not spending big, keeping the side in the champions league. keeping the shareholders and bank manager happy!
That has been his/ Arsenals main priority since moving to the Emirates.
Ok....us the fans have had very little to celebrate about with regards trophies but we should still be proud of Arsene and our team for what they have achieved.
I'm not a glory hunter and yes I am a bit down that we haven't won anything in almost 9 years but NOW Is the time to reap the rewards. I'm certain we will win a trophy this season and once that first one is under the belt the sky is the limit. I only have 1 request Mr Wenger. Buy a striker this January, someone proven and of substance. Lets show the world we NOW mean business!

Done well with the resources he has used or done well with the resources available cos there is a world of difference isnt there ? For the past 3 or 4 seasons wenker has stated publicly that there was bif funds available to him, This statement was also echoed by the board and was subsequently backed up by the figures in the club accounts so dont even try to use the "he had no money available" line  Of course having CHOSEN not to spend big, it automatically shielded him and the club of any great level of expectations from the fans and the media. Instead we were treated to remarks about how qualifying for the champs league with that squad would be wenker's "greatest achievement" If the old c*nt had of spent the money available to him then at least we could have shown ambition and aspirations but of course had he have done so, then maybe he wouldnt have met the targets that you and every other akb set for him.

Brilliant post. In the words of Martin Tyler, that sums it all up. It's amazing how many fans still haven't got a clue about what's really been happening, and how many opportunities have been tragically and unnecessarily missed.

He's hardly going to be sacked mid season and surely even the most die hard WOBs can see that you don't sack your manager when you're top of the league half way through a season? This thread is like 24hr rolling news

A few seconds of reflection and analysis should lead you to the conclusion that everything on this forum is pointless! :D

Change thread titles only seems to annoy certain fools.

I hope this is true. I have deleted your original post. If there is a recurrence you will be in bother.
