Let's All Laugh At Man Utd! (Merged thread)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Fucking hell they've had half a season where they're not cantering to trophies and the 'fans' who haven't lost interest in football are making out as though they're going through footballing rock bottom.

If they don't finish in European places, there'll be riots on the streets of Surrey.

Yep, they'll find Old Trafford with their sat navs and pelt Mr Moyes with their cous cous and quail's eggs if he doesn't sort it out soon

To be honest the united fans have been good through this sh1t time for them, better than ours. We've got a reputation for acting like brats when things aren't going well. Sadly.

If only that were true. If it were, Wenger would've fucked off years ago.

Exactly. Jan 2008 - Jan 2013, 5 years of no progress. They've had a barren few months, not the same at all. The media's favourite sport is to bash on about how shit Arsenal fans are and then when fans start to agree to turn 180 degrees and start bashing the fans for being ungrateful, impatient etc because the team has won a few games.

How many years have we backed wenger? (By we I mean supporters and board. Even the media are still soft on him) And his name is still sung from the terraces.

thats the absolute opposite of the truth, sadly our fanbase has been much too loyal to wenger, whereas the plastics at united have already turned on moyes after a couple of months,it highlights how patient we've had to been over 9 years.

Nothing against you guys, i dont know what you're like when you go to games or anything.

But im telling you now, arsenal fans in general have built up a reputution acting like brats, not even just about wenger, just in general..for example if we lose at home we boo our team a LOT more than man united!! And then say we're allowed to because the ticket prices and all that shit. I personally find it embaressing, villa at H this season, swansea at H last season, just disgusts me. Nobody forces anyone to buy a ticket, so if u do buy one, dont slate your own team...like i said united have lost 4 out of 5 home games? Christ, imagine our fans the day that happens!

I often go to games and have to cringe at some of the cretins that go there, and it's certainly been on the up since I started going a year after Arsenal were founded in 1997. Are many of our fans clueless? Indifferent? Disinterested? Lacking perspective? Yes. But brats? Not for me. Certainly not when I think how often I've heard fans chirp on about how well Wenger's doing on a budget, or question why others think we have a right to be winning trophies.

There is a sense of petulance that permeates the fans and probably filters down from the team itself but I don't think your assessment is fair personally. It is just not a useful comparison with United at all given their sustained success for the past two decades that their fans don't boo the odd poor result. I don't remember too much booing 1996-2006?

I'm not saying we have more right to boo than any other club, but our circumstances are unique so as to make comparisons of limited use. No other club has ripped the fans off and fed them bullshit about investment then failed to follow through on and off the pitch in the same way. Like I said before we might have a bit of a media reputation for being moany but that's just because it suits their agenda - tell us how shit we are until we agree, wait until we string a few results together then lambast us for being moaning bastards.

Agree with above.

Think we were happy to a degree when the football was still a joy to watch without winning trophies, gave Wenker the benefit of the doubt with the non spending due to the Emirates move, tolerated a couple of poor seasons and then for some have reached the turning point with lack of investment after selling integral players and resulting in poor quality football for top dollar prices.

Arsenal fans on the whole are far more tolerant than other clubs fans.

there is frustration aimed towards the scum in the boardroom as much as anyone on the pitch, united really have had shit all to moan about for two and a half decades, fuck most of them were campaigning for fergie to leave in 2001, the bunch of pricks

You really have no shame at all with making such a shocking post, do you?
