THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

 dont bring his bowels into this PLEASE mate
Arsey Wonga has been a bit constipated lately as he's been going to the toilet 'with the handbrake on'........
But with great mental strength and a lot of self belief he released an 'Abou' just in time!!

Any chance of a white elephant burger, SteveO? - depending on one's position, this could be used to commemorate Wenger's 8m a year wages, Sp*rs' 100m spending spree, the Emirates Stadium or even Abou Diaby's continued presence at our club :D

Or better still, the Elephant Burger could signify the gigantic elephant in the room... the fact that 99% of those attending the BBQ are secretly (well, not so secretly) wanting Wenger to leave asap!  in fact, this "celebratory" BBQ of Wenger's new contract could well be as phony as the grieving at the funeral of Kim Jong-il :D

Is OGL planning to give Sagna and Rosicky the necessary contract extensions? His 'over 30s' policy is so stuffed. Players are playing longer than ever but his attitude to anyone over 30 is that they are too old.
I notice he's got a new puffa sleeping bag. This one has much deeper pockets than its glorious predecessor. Could have fooled me.
Any bets on which unattainable player he'll spend the whole summer chasing? My money's on Costa.

Rosicky puts in the most effort of any player ive seen this season, but that Wanker still wont give him a new contract, his logic is to reward Diaby a new contract :banghead:

Not so long ago Rosicky was regarded as "dead wood" on these boards and wouldn't have even been at the club had they had their way. He's been given contract extensions following all of his injuries so I don't expect now to be any different given he's fully fit and performing.

The last time Rosicky was playing so well was...........the 6 months before his contract was last about to run out! Just saying, coincidences do happen.

And in fairness Rosicky HAS been deadwood for most of his Arsenal career. I like TR7, believe he is very good technically and hard working, but a half season of good performances doesn't suddenly change the fact he has not contributed anywhere near enough for the duration and hasn't justified what we've paid him. If Diaby comes back fit (stop laughing, Rodders) and puts in 10 games would you say he has justified the amount we have paid him since he signed?

To be fair, a two year contract to rosicky would be a massive gamble - he has had multiple seasons that have been cut short by injury and he cant automatically get a new contract based on a handful of good performances no matter how much we like and rate the guy.

Sagna is a different case altogether imo - two broken legs aside, the guy has played the vast majority of the games and I would suggest that alongside zabaleta he has been the best right back in the world 8) If sagna doesn't get the extension he wants then the decision will rank up there alongside the worst decisions in the wenker reign

Although its true that Rosicky has been injured for most of his Arsenal career, I still think he deserves a new contract over the deadwood who have been given contracts in the last few seasons.

His injuries pretty much made him a squad player at the club and he's only played a small part over the years. I think it made him a really easy target for people who loved making lists of who was perceived to be dead wood at the club.
