Promote from within?
Promote from within?
with the injury list getting longer and the time to buy top quality players, who aren't cup tied in champions league, with the January window frittering away is it time to introduce a couple of young players? Akpom who is loaned to Brentford for one month to gain 1st team experience, and Thomas Eisfield are two that spring to mind...
fresh minds, fresh legs eager for a chance could help us through a difficult March.

Re: Promote from within?
With a genuine chance of the title, I think Wenger is unlikely to blood anyone in the League unless they are "More than ready."
Gnabry is the one who has fallen into this category.
The Cup game versus Coventry will be the exception, we could see Zelalem, Miyaichi, Eisfeld and even Coquelin in that.
For the League:
If Akpom is not used now, and is sent on loan when we are down to just Giroud and Park, then I very much doubt he will get a chance this season.
Same goes for Afobe.
Eisfeld (left attacking midfield and number 10) looks to me to have all the required skill, but I suspect they are using this season to bulk him up a bit.
Even with injuries to Ramsey, Theo, Diaby and Rosicky, he has quite a few ahead of him...Cazorla, Podolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Wilshere and Gnabry etc.
Zelalem is very exciting but has been injured.
We may see him such is his excellent passing, but as with Eisfeld, he looks like he could do with bulking up a bit and at age 16 that cannot be rushed.
I thought Yennaris would have broken through by now, think he may leave?
With Sagna and Jenkinson fit I cannot see John Toral playing this season at right back, and with three fit centre-backs same goes for Semi Ajayi.
It is though just possible we could see Coquelin get the odd sub appearance in defensive midfield, he is rumoured to be returning early from loan.

I do love the internal transfer market, it's so exciting! Where's Frimpong when you need him?!

Re: Promote from within?
Is the "internal transfer option" open the same amount of time as the "January transfer window?",SteveO 35 wrote:The second transfer market that nobody else recognises !mcdowell42 wrote:Ah the famous internal transfer option.

He is on loan in Germany. My post says he may be returning home early, as Dan 85 says, he got voted 3rd worse player in the Bundesliga and he is believed to be not wanted any more.Dan_85 wrote:He is, he was voted "third worst player in the Bundesliga" just the other daytopgoon wrote:I thought Coquelin was on loan in Germany
But he has been played as a left sided midfielder over there, which is a waste of time for a central midfielder/right back.
I like his willingness to put his foot in, but I think Wenger is concerned he is not inventive enough for us?

Our squad needs a balance of inventiveness and those who will work there socks off.
Ozil and Santi are hardly going to be the midfield enforcers are they
Flamini, Coquelin and Arteta give the cover and hardwork that gives the above two more freedom to create.
Jack, Rosicky and Ramsey do a bit of both in my view Gnabry with his physique is far more likely to be a "get stuck in" type of player at his age than Theo was (or ever will be) Ox too looks to have the strength required to be an all round midfielder.
