I simply don't understand why people persist with getting wound up about the manager when we've not lost more then a handful of games in the last 12 months. If a new manager had come in a year ago and had this run he'd be the new messiah.

This is not the 2008 team, or the 2010 team just like it's not the 2004 team.
Aye but we all wish it was :(

I have tried and tried but I cant just selectively erase everything from my mind about Wenger that doesnt suit. Or delete everything before we won the calendar year trophy for 2013. :barscarf:

If we don't buy a proven striker in the next 5 days and if that inactivity plays a major role in our wheels coming off in the second half of the season, will your passive feelings towards wenker remain ?
If a new manager was responsible for our run to date then yes I would be declaring him as the new messiah so from that perspective you are 100% correct in that suggestion BUT, if he then sat on his hands and bought nobody this month then I would without doubt blame him if we fell away from here on in.
If you want to put that what if scenario out there, then would you still support wenker is he was only appointed in 2006 ? I can never get my head around how much latitude a manager can get based on success achieved almost a decade ago

How does that make you any different from the fans who were being selective during our weaker years by constantly harking back to our successes under Wenger? Just two sides of the same very, very boring coin.

Because those that defend wenker do so on the basis of glories achieved many moons ago and in doing that they choose to overlook the recent years when the man has badly mismanaged our club. Yes it might well be boring but there is a fundamental hypocrisy in the arguments of those that defend wenker

If he had been appointed in 2006 I would have most definitely wanted him out around 2011. Heck, I wanted Wenger out around that time anyway, I'm just not at all bothered with trying to paint myself as some kind of soothsayer who's never wrong about anything. It looked for a while like we were going absolutely nowhere in a hurry but since then he has acted by making one of his best ever transfers in getting Mertesacker for 8m. He has made players out of Koscielny and Ramsey, brought in world class talent like Cazorla and Ozil while investing in a promising core of British talent. That is not the hallmark of a bad manager.

See my post above which was being typed at the same time that you were trawling through my posting history. It simply doesn't matter one bit to me, we're not talking about a hard science here and frankly the real mark of stupidity is not adapting your opinion when there is significant evidence to the contrary.

You describing Wenger in that bit?

But what gives you the right to criticise, or call us stupid when only a couple of years ago you held exactly the same views as those of us who still want him gone? Its a bit rich you looking down your nose at us for criticising the manager when you are guilty of doing exactly the same thing.

So what - you have #flipflopped? Some of us still feel the same as you did not so long ago.

Right ok then forget about the stupid bit. I picked you up wrong.

What I mean is...... there are posters who have criticised Wenger in the past and who have called for him to be sacked just as voiceiferously as me. Now, due to our league position and more solid performances they have changed their minds. Now for me thats fair enough. I have no problem with that.

What gets my goat somewhat is when they have digs at me for not #flipflopping. They want me to "just enjoy the moment" etc......"support the team", "we are top of the league" etc....

Then there are those who have always supported Wenger. Never changed. Posted in support of him in the face of ridicule. I can take their criticism or digs at me or arguments for Wenger on the chin a little better .

Then you have posters like mcd who makes no discernable contribution to the forum. Has no real opinion on anything and when he does it changes with the wind. Just post links off the net and criticise us for not #flipflopping.
