THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We have a fantastic squad, stadiums built, things will only get better.
Hopefully we will sign a top class striker.

Why do Wenger supporters feel the need to say this........?
"I'm not an AKB but......"

:rubchin:
I'm not an AKB, just happy with the way things are going.
If Wenger had been advised better when the bid was made for suarez, he would now be playing for the Arsenal.

I don't agree with that last part. For what it's worth I think the reaction on here about it being disrespectful, dicking around etc was wide of the mark - clearly we were advised that the bid would trigger a release clause and I'm glad we acted on it.

However, the reality is that Liverpool would not have accepted anything less than £50m (and quite possibly a fair whack higher) to sell Suarez to us. And we would never have paid it whatever Wenger had been advised of.

If we had been advised to pay £50 mil then he would be an Arsenal player, Wenger was badly advised.

How do you know Liverpool would have sold for £50m? And how do you know Wenger would have paid it?

Imo whatever our first bid was Rodgers would have been a prick about it (exactly like Gartside did with Cahill) to get popularity and increase the price. And I personally don't believe Wenger would have gone in with a £50m opening bid.

If the bid had been 50mill then I agree Suarez would be playing for us.
But the bid was an insulting +1 pound and an "arent I clever" move to unsettle the player that backfired spectacularly.

Thats what I'm trying to say, Wenger was badly advised about the buy out clause and Liverpool thought it was a piss take.
I believe Wenger would of paid 50 or 60 mil.
