FA Cup 5th Round Draw

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So the club would have only benefited from category A prices from the remaining 18000 tickets. And half of these will be supporters who protested loudly the last time we played them (and are still protesting!)... And add to that the large share of the gate receipts that we have to hand over to Liverpool anyway!

Whereas from a club viewpoint the Bayern game moving to be cup game 8 means that they get the benefit from all 60000 ticket holders, and I would guess that we also hand over a much smaller proportion of the gate receipts...

This will undoubdedly be portrayed in the press as a good news story...but I just think it's yet another cynical move on the part of the club!! Especially given that most people will see Arsenal v Liverpool in the FA Cup as a more attractive (and more winnable!) fixture than Arsenal v Bayern Munich in the Champions League!
Sorry, it may be because I'm a younger fan that I'm asking this. I understand the historical rivalry between us and the bin-dippers, but is that really more attractive fixture to attend than one against the reigning European champions?

Happy to be shouted down, just would like to understand the logic.
You won't be shouted down :D !!

For one, it's a competition that we have a reasonable chance of winning. And regardless of all the hype around the money it brings in, domestic games still sell out much faster than Champions League. And the atmosphere, with 9000 scousers there as well will be absolutely cracking! And there is the fact that we only played Bayern last season...and few would give us much chance this!

I'm gutted as we're away for the weekend so will have to watch it on TV...and the fact that we'll be there the week before v United and the week after v Bayern doesn't make up for missing this!!

EDIT: Forgot to add that the Bayern game is only the 1st leg...so no matter how well we do we know that it's likely to be undone in the 2nd leg :banghead: !

Club confirmed now Sunday 16th at 4pm. But we can't opt out of this as can only do this for Bayern - Category A not B!

If its confirmed as the late Sunday you might as well bet your house on the Mickeys winning

We don't want the real trophy getting in the way of the virtual one

Still, it might help to prove whether Park really exists or whether its a cardboard cutout sat on the bench every week. Arsene's already seeing if we can drag Djourou, Wellington Silva, Joel Campbell and Akpom back to participate in the traditional 5th round sacrifice

Those shadows aren't going to chase themselves against Bayern. I wonder what time Wenger's decision to rest players against Liverpool will kick in on the night of the Bayern game - 20.15? 20.05?

His decision to rest players will come shortly after the £62 sell out is announced !
