As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
"There was a groundswell of will to go for Draxler in this window in order to snuff out interest from other parties in the summer, but it was a collective decision from Arsenal not to pursue him this month."
that is not the way it is supposed to work - the manager asks for a player, the board approve a figure and go get him.

#Afc board were happy to meet #Schalke fee for Draxler & keen this month to avoid summer battle, but AW valuation lower & unwilling to budge
Its not his fucking money its the clubs !! FROWN
I had hoped the board would step in (like I reckon they did with Ozil) and sign a quality striker over Wengers head.
But they've already got the "marquee signing" they wanted to quieten things down.
Theres a couple hours left still I suppose....

I haven't seen Draxler play much and by all accounts I hear he's a fantastic talent. But he isn't a lone striker. We need a fucking striker and tbh I'm not really disappointed that Wenger didn't spend £37m on another midfielder. But it's completely symptomatic of the way we do business these days.
The mistake was ignoring our need for a striker to go after a creative midfielder who we were never going to stump up the cash for. Why do we seem to assume every club will wilt at the first sign of serious interest from a better team? Oh that's right, because we fucking do it.
Why would Schalke buckle and compromise on their fee? There are plenty of clubs who can afford to pay £40m for a player and there will be no shortage of clubs willing to part with that sort of money this summer for such a highly-rated youngster.

If the AKB had more then 3 brain cells, That quote should tell them the money had been always available for AW all those years but the self harmer did't want to use it. But nights like this i laught at those fans who will be milked like cattle for £63+ quid and their money will not go to strengthen the team they love but will go to the £8m/yr salery of the hypocrite.

The same fans that for years and fucking years were telling us "its the boards fault, Wenger has no money. Sack the board"
The *word censored* is on a win-win as far as he's concerned. He can fuck about and do whatever he wants, be a fucking arrogant prick and still get is new contract in the next few weeks. The board should have said 'we're paying the money and if you don't like it, fuck off.'
