Re: Palace
Apart from the performance which wasn't great, palace fans where brilliant and really constantly took the piss out of our abysmal support.
If gooners actually put as much effort into creating an atmosphere as they do moaning about wenger etc, the ground would be a cauldron.

Re: Palace
Yep, the Palace fans were quality but our home support wasn't THAT bad, at least were I was stood. Away fans in England are almost ALWAYS louder than the home fans though because the only people that go to away games are the ones who give a fuck, and not tourists, corporate clients or people who would rather talk about X Factor.nut flush gooner wrote:Apart from the performance which wasn't great, palace fans where brilliant and really constantly took the piss out of our abysmal support.

Re: Palace
This "Palace Ultras" thing is a bit cringeworthy though isn't it? They can keep their continental style orchestrated happy clappy shite.
Give me "Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal" any day

Well, I suppose it's better than sitting in dead-silence which is then broken from a bit of moaning from the same bloke every minute.Leyton Gooner wrote:This "Palace Ultras" thing is a bit cringeworthy though isn't it? They can keep their continental style orchestrated happy clappy shite.

This is a wind up I assume right? Think about it, their team is shite, they probably will go down and yet despite this at 2-0 down they where ripping the shit out of our home support with a variety of songs that we havent heard since the terrace days at highbury.Leyton Gooner wrote:This "Palace Ultras" thing is a bit cringeworthy though isn't it? And what was our response to "youll win fuck all" chant from them, I mean a brainless twat could retort "youre going down" but no we come out with weeeere by far the greatest team ad infinitum, yaaaawn. Even redaction are shit these days.
What does it take to get an atmosphere at home these days, clearly being top of the league isn't enough !

Don't get me wrong I hate how shit our home support is and I refuse to join in with by far the greatest team. I’m not having a go at the Palace fans for creating an atmosphere just saying I’m not a fan of their style of support.
And I didn’t personally hear any particularly good retro chants from them mainly just “Glad All Over” and “We love you, where you go we follow etc”. But fair play to them if that’s the case, I'll withdraw my criticism

Re: Palace
Not a great game, but we got the job done and nice to have the Ox back adding something different to our midfield
Not sure how I'll sleep tonight knowing we lost the singing though. Heartbreaking

Their style of support was sing for 90 mins, I know its not possible for gooner's to do that for 10 mins in a match but you can't have a pop at palace. I was two blocks away from redaction and palace from the other end where drowning us out. Re: Palace
If we're playing 'Battle of the Fans' I think our away fans from the 8-2 deserve a mention.
If you believe the media then our support is shit and Liverpool's, the scum's, Man U's etc is fantastic. It's all bollocks.

Until the club makes an attempt to improve things and to get the fans who want to get an atmosphere going back in the North Bank and Clock End, while moving away fans to the upper Tier nothing will Change. Stewards need to stop pandering to the tourists as well and let the real fans stand if they want.

I don't care about manure or anyone else, I care about being in a ground where the fans can get behind the team. It doesn't happen enough at the emirates. Arsenal's away support has always been better, but that's not my point.spike241 wrote:If we're playing 'Battle of the Fans' I think our away fans from the 8-2 deserve a mention.

Re: Palace
You're comparing our home support to Palace's away support and, as others have mentioned, you're comparing the most dedicated fans (usually) of one team to a bunch of tourists who have a go at anyone who dares to stand or make a noise. The stewards don't exactly encourage our fans to make some noise either.
I'd love it if we had a proper atmosphere but the club don't seem to want to encourage the type of fans who can create that.

Re: Palace
Our away support isnt that great either IMO. In terms of numbers yes, but we're a big club.
I haven't been to an away game in a while where there's been virtually non-stop backing of the team like the Palace support was yesterday, they were immense
Obviously a bit easier when you've got that mentality of "fuck it, we're going to most likely lose every away game so lets go for it" but still.

I disagree. Think our away is support is very good ( not saying the best in the league ) always heard loudly on tv. I went to Newcastle away with two palace fanas and even they thought it was good!Robin_L wrote:Our away support isnt that great either IMO. In terms of numbers yes, but we're a big club.

A general question but how do you define/quantify "very good" ? I hear our away fans singing loud and proud at most games that are on tv so from that perspective they are very good. These trips costs fans a fortune and no small amount of time either so from that respect they are also "very good". I dont doubt that the vast vast majority of fans will use those criteria for judging our away support but I'm sorry there are other factors in it for me.
Since we moved into the cash cow stadium I have heard nothing but comments on how the place is full of tourists and how the real old school fans go to the away games but I see no evidence of that. In the "old days" there is no way our support would tolerate the repeated fcuk ups that we are continually subjected to. In the old days there is no way that our fans would tolerate the amount of letharic displays and general apathy that our players have provided. In the old days wenker and his players would have been on the end of so many backlashes from the fans that they couldnt but be aware of the anger amongst the fanbase. If these problems were only occasional problems then nobody would expect the fans to slate them over it but it seems nowadays that we are afraid to hold players and managers publicly accountable for fear of how it would look to outsiders but for me if you are not part of the solution (if not trying to publicly call for changes) then you are part of the problem and I know that steve o takes the piss out of it, but how those 2 fat mares were allowed display that pro wenker banner at the end of our 8-2 mauling at old shatford is beyond me
