Come back Jose, all is forgiven? (22/6)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Come back Jose, all is forgiven? (22/6)

Post by gooner.ed »

Usual thread starter… You can’t argue with his contribution to Real’s final match, but Arsenal are in for a very testing season in which strength of character will be everything. Jose has little in the way of backbone, so thanks, but no thanks.

If Reyes did so well at Madrid why aren"t they signing him?Reason he is not good enough. One good game in ten does not a good player make. We have missed Vieira,Bergkamp and Pires but not mummys boy Reyes.Remember he said he hated England because it is too cold for him.Poor boy.No the truth is he failed at Arsenal and Madrid because he couldn"t hack it.

This things take time to develop. Real Madrid Just won the La Liga and two days afterwards came to Israel for an exhibition match (Won 8-0 against a team combined with Israelis and Arabs).
They have more than two months to sign Jose Antonio, what's the rush?

I always liked Jose Antonio - and at Highbury we frequently sang his name. Reyes came up with the goods last weekend when it mattered - just as he did against Man City in the 3-1 win to scrape into 4th place in the lasagne season. Maybe the Real experience can help him to mature, as he clearly has the ability to score the goals we need. Alternatively, how about the now-available Fernando Torres, if Arsenal 'deign' to join the race...

For me he always seemed to perform better in the Champions League than the Premiership. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing him coming back, but don't think it'll happen. He has obviously made his mind up, but great timing for us that he scored those two goals. Should guarantee we don't lose money on him.

His best moment in our shirt was either v Chelsea in FAC (debut?) when he scored 2 stormers or when injured v Real Madrid & he rolled back onto the pitch to waste time!

Good player but can't take the rough stuff. If he doesn't want to play for us then he won't even if he is on the pitch.

The best possible oucome i have heard so far is we to a deal with Athletico.

Reyes + Cash = Torres

Now nobody can complain about that kind of deal.

I agree with ECD, Torres is not worth that kind of cash and even if his price was 10 million i don't think i would bring him to Arsenal. he will be no match to the english defences, we need Anelka (it's a shame that there isn't a player that has the skills of Anelka but he wasn't Anelka)!

Spot on DanielD

Anelka's skills and finishing without the baggage thank you very much.

I must admit I haven't seen enough of Torres to decide positively on him, only on what I have seen the price seems somewhat excessive.

Reyes is a gifted player with a great future but just not in the english premiership.. Seemed to spend most of his time on the ground than on his feet. Ath madrid seems the best option for him and us. Its a shame but thats life.

P.s I'd love to See Teves at the Arsenal.
