As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I enjoy going to games, as I do even when we're further down the table. Seeing us top of the table is great of course & I enjoy it when we win & others drop points but there is a sense of impending doom eating away at my insides every time we play. If we get a win it's great, but it just feels like a reprieve for a week or whatever.
I know the collapse is coming, it's fucking torturous. It's like a long 9 month trudge to your own inevitable painful death lol. I think i'd be enjoying it a lot more if we were further clear at the top!
No, and I haven't enjoyed much over the last several years. I don't get excited about summer signings either. It's usually some young guy like Sonogo out of the French league I've not really heard about.
What was I supposed to get excited about this year? Flamini on a free, Ozil was nice but as always we wait till the very end so that they aren't actually using pre-season to integrate into the team. It was probably the boards signing anyway.
Seriously, an already injured , going to be out 6 weeks 31 year old midfield playing Swede? I just have no faith that we'll finish in first at the very end. Look at our upcoming schedule.
ho-hum,. it's the same every year, to the point that I just don't even get excited or do research on the newer players brought in. It's the same every year. Virtual Trophy. Excuses.

Is ANYONE actually enjoying following Arsenal this season?
Have to admit I'm surprised (and a little disappointed) by how negative things are on the forum. We're top of the league, in the FA cup still and still in the European Cup, yeah it might fall apart still but if you can't enjoy this so far then what's the fucking point?
Don't get me wrong, i'm happy we're top and still in Europe (for now ) but having seen Arsenal bottle so much in the last decade it feels like i'm just waiting for the inevitable punch to the gut which will no doubt come around mid-late March.
If modern Arsenal had proven themselves more adept at dealing with pressure recently I might feel more confident and "happy".

The thing is in recent seasons we've been out of the title race by October maybe even earlier but here we are in Feb. still top of the league, we might not win it and even might implode and win fuck all but I'm enjoying the fact we still have a chance of winning it and also defensively have looked pretty good all season (barring city away) which is a welcome change to recent seasons too
I believe that we CAN win the PL. We should be singing "we're gonna win the league" at every match. If the supporters start to believe it will be worth at least 4 points in the final matches.
I will be GUTTED if we come 2nd.
Jenkinson to take the winning penalty at Norwich in the last 5 mins! And the boyhood Gunner wins it for the rip roaring reds!!

Do you think we should be singing There's Only One AW at every game too ? I'm happy to join the chorus !
I don't think that pessimism and enjoyment are completely incompatible. I've never thought we had a chance of winning the league this year and I still cannot see it happening. But that doesn't mean I'm not glad we've made progress from the trough of 2010-12. It also doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching us play - it always has been a highlight of my week watching us and like most on here I plan my life accordingly.
The fact that I don't believe we'll win anything under Wenger again does probably temper the enjoyment slightly, in the sense the gritty wins we've picked up since Christmas would mean more to me if I thought they might count towards something. But just because I've not abandoned all inhibitions and remain convinced it will imminently turn to shite doesn't mean I don't derive enjoyment from seeing us do well.
Does anyone enjoy football, or more accurately enjoy passionately following a football team. The enjoyment is after the season ends, the rest is a roller coaster of highs and lows..we may not enjoy it but we couldn't live without it. stormin 571 your plastic Manc neighbour has probably moved onto a new bandwagon . That is the worse thing about plastic fans, when their "team" is struggling they don't care so their misery is in fact non existent. Good thing about it is you don't have to listen to them talking about ManYoo or Liverpool
