Re: LIVERPOOL AWAY THREAD
Why did Rosicky not start, think his work rate is amazing and he speeds up our game. Why in the world did gibbs not start. Why were we playing such a high line. Why was ozil sh*t. Why is giroud starting when podolski can start. Monreal not good enough. Why do we panic when we concede a few early goals.

Terrible day at the office. Unfortunately, Wenger got it all wrong - and has since the summer.
We looked today like what I believe we are - 3rd or 4th material. At a consistent level to beat all the smaller teams - Palace, West Ham and spurs - but fall short when against good quality in your face teams.
We still don't have it. Doesn't matter how many times Wenger says we do.

Rosicky and gibbs both should start against the mancs.euphoricone wrote:Why did Rosicky not start, think his work rate is amazing and he speeds up our game. Why in the world did gibbs not start. Re: LIVERPOOL AWAY THREAD
How many record scoring defeats has our lord presided over? I'm losing count.
Re: LIVERPOOL AWAY THREAD
My last two aways have seen us lose 6-3 to City and 5-1 to Pool.
Apart from Ox and Shez, (who were our only decent performers today) the only positive I took from today is that Wenger didnt bring on Bendtner and we didnt have to endure the embarrassment of uncontrollable laughter from the Pool supporters like we did at City. Although they did sing - "You're gonna win fuck all" Which is probably true.
Although Wenger is ultimately culpable, sometimes you have to put your hands up and aknowlege a better team.
Liverpool wanted it, and were excellent today. Credit to them.

I think we've shown real progress in the consistency that we beat/take points against the mediocre clubs, but we rarely seem to turn up against the big clubs and today was yet another example.
Humiliating defeat. Worse than 6-3 at Citeh. Not as bad as 8-2 at Old Trafford.
Also worried about our increasing trend of not turning up until well into the game. We've got away with it at times owing to the poor opposition, but today we deservedly paid the price for sleepwalking our way into the path of a confident Liverpool.
We should be going into games ready to go to war - ready to fight tooth and nail to stay top of the league - but they looked off the pace and lacking in energy and commitment. Ridiculous.
Obviously you HAVE to question the way the players were prepared for this game by the manager, but the players are experienced professionals - they knew full well what to expect and should have been ready. Pathetic.
Re: LIVERPOOL AWAY THREAD
Got home from the match a little while ago - cold, wet and pissed off. Had a little time to gather my thoughts...
First off, I felt that a drubbing like this was coming, if not today then very soon - and it may now be the first of several in close succession. We've played very poorly for a month/six weeks now and have pretty much got away with it because we've played poor teams. Southampton gave us a hell of a scare in the way they pressed, harried & attacked us with relentless pace & incision. They were kinda a "Liverpool-lite".
Secondly, this illusion of us playing "beautiful football" really needs to be put to bed. We haven't been easy on the eye for a good number of years. Yes, there may be a handfull of incidents throughout a season that the purists can ***** over (eg Jack's goal vs Norwich) but watch us closely on a regular basis and we are fucking dire. We're pretty slow, there are balls trapped to feet with the efficiency of Bedntner wearing clown shoes, Jack trying to take the ball too far before running into someone, the ridiculously overplayed eye-of-the-needle stuff on the 18 yard box and this infuriatingly slow, tedious "tiki taka" shit.
Liverpool carved us open time and time again in the first half, not with tiki taka football but with pressing, forcing mistakes, speed and long raking passes that split our defence. That's how we used to play and I wanna see it again. They didn't score four in 20 mins because they created endless little triangles 20 yards outside our goal while they tried to pick their way through our massed ranks. They did it because they were 3 steps ahead of us, picking out the likes of Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge with precision balls and quick counters.
Anyway. I've not seen highlights but i think the first goal was offside? And i'm not convinced it was a foul for the freekick that led to it. To then leave Skrtel totally unmarked again to run wherever the fuck he wanted for the second goal was criminal.
Yeah, thoroughly shit performance that they should be embarassed of. Oh, and the manager of the decade managed to have a fantastic influence on proceedings by sitting on his arse as they bent us over and fucked seven shades of shit out of us.

Re: LIVERPOOL AWAY THREAD
Not offside Dan, a red shirt was ahead of the pack as the kick was taken, but it wasn't the goalscorer.

Re: LIVERPOOL AWAY THREAD
"We're a beautiful team to watch" I keep hearing. If a beautiful team is one that flicks the ball around in front of nine men on the 18yd line, creating hardly any chances and without really testing the keeper, then I agree.
Fucking hell, fatty Kolo had a tougher time against Bournemouth.

Re: LIVERPOOL AWAY THREAD
I think u'll find he was slightly offside. Even if it was his millimetres he was off. Didn't think it was a free kick leading to it either. Don't think it would have changed the result anyway.foxinthebox2001 wrote:Not offside Dan, a red shirt was ahead of the pack as the kick was taken, but it wasn't the goalscorer.
