Why haven’t Arsenal drafted in Tony Adams? (10/4)

Why haven’t Arsenal drafted in Tony Adams? (10/4)

usual thread starter… Okay, then. Do you agree with the idea of TA joining Arsene on the staff to improve matters at the back? Or would he be too strong a presence for Wenger? He’s hardly going to be a ‘yes’ man is he?

To begin I just want to say what Fabregas were you watching again Liverpool? He had a few good moments but was one of our poorer players on the night. His passing was often bad and his pass success rate I find it hard to imagine was impressive considering how often he didn't find his target. He also made bad decisions on a number of occasions when you would have expected better, like aimlessly hoofing it at Adebayor who was tired and marked by two people a mile away from anyone else when he could have given it to someone like Walcott much more sensibly.

Fabregas is awesome at his best but he was a very very long way from being that against Liverpool for the vast majority of the game.

Hleb and even Diaby were both better, I didn';t expect to say that about Diaby. And Flamini as well and that's just from the midfield.

I'd love to say Adams return to Arsenal. We seriously need to learn how to look solid when we have a lead and stop making very game so difficult. Maybe his return could help that significantly.

There is something odd about Adams' relationship with Arsenal. Perry Groves (or was it Paul Merson) recently said on Arsenal TV that Tony had some sort of issue with the Club, but wasn't asked to elaborate.

Personally I would like to see Martin Keown brought in, as he was in the run to the CL Final in 2006.

article has been mentioned at arsenal-land forum by the way

Why would Adams leave Portsmouth as assistant manager where he seems happy for a role as defensive coach here?

Probably. From what I've heard of him, I think he'd floor Eboue

By the way, could anyone tell me who Tony Adams supported as a kid?

WELL, APART FROM THE LONG HISTORY OF BEING ASSOCIATED WITH THE CLUB, DO YOU MEAN?

I HEARD ON SKY SPORTS NEWS TODAY THAT TONY ADAMS CONTRACT AT PORTSMOUTH EXPIRES IN THE SUMMER. ONE OF THE BEST SIGNINGS WENGER COULD MAKE WOULD BE TO SECURE HIS SERVICES FOR ARSENAL. MAYBE ADAMS ISN'T READY TO BE ARSENAL MANAGER, BUT CAN ANYONE DOUBT THAT AS A COACH HE WOULD IMPROVE OUR DEFENCE?

COULD IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH HIS SISTER BEING CAUGHT A FEW TIMES TOUTING HIS ARSENAL TICKET ALLOCATION? I AGREE, KEOWN COULD ALSO BE OF SOME HELP TO OUR DEFENDERS. 8)

"Kuyt on their right was never really in the game thanks to young Gael"

I do not agree with that at all. Kuyt was a constant threat and pulled Clichy out of positions lot, causing Senderos to have to cover a lot of the penalty area.

I seem to remember KEOWN being used as defensive coach during 2005-2006, and that coincided with our 10 game clean sheet record in the Champions Legue, one we did with Senderos and Flamini involved.

Maybe we should bring Keown back, he certainly makes concise and good points as a pundit.

Adams still regards himself as an Arsenal man, I think the very reason he has a bit of distance from the club is to show respect to Wenger.
