As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don't think it's just middle age or nostalgia that makes me think we were a more exciting to team to watch a few years ago.
I remember leaning forward on tiptoe, screaming whenever Wrighty, TH14 or DB10 got the ball, genuinely exciting players. Also, one of the the most exciting parts of any game was when the winger (Cunningham, Barnes, Armstrong, even Bale) got one on one with the full back. Now whenever that happens you know our wide players will phaff about for a few seconds then roll the ball back to our fullback. I really think our slow, tippy-tappy play is boring. There may be two or three moves each game when it comes off but for the other 88 minutes it's dull as dishwater. I want us to win, but we shouldn't just be about the result. I watch the games because that what supporters do, but I yearn to see some pace and passion back in the team, to feel we're really going for it, not just science students watching Professor Wenger's latest experiment in same old same old.
Agree,
We have picked up points in many games not by blowing the opposition away but by plodding on and eventually getting a break. The vast majority of matches have been instantly forgettable bar Spuds x 2, Bin Dippers Napoli (H) and Norwich (H)
Its almost the same game after game, we are no longer great to watch, we are slow, turgid and ponderous most of the time.
I've been thinking about this last couple of days, have to say that I do enjoy football less at the moment.
Games like United, City, Chelsea, probably Liverpool - used to spend the entire time from the previous game buzzing and on the day I wouldn't concentrate on anything else and clock-watch even when I got home.
It's difficult to get that same level of excitement when you know we're going to turn in a performance like we have in the big games over past seasons. It's not that we're not the best or whatever, it's the complete hopelessness of the inevitability.
The Spurs game is a bit different but then I've never enjoyed the build-up per se. Just the inevitable mix of nausea and hoping we don't buckle and put in a limp-dicked powderpuff performance away to them like we have done on the last 4 or 5 trips.
It's the predictability of Arsene's Arsenal year after year that is tempering my enjoyment of the game I absolutey love to death. I'm so sick and tired of the same mistakes over and over and over. The fucking sickening inevitabitity of it all. It wears me out.
The saying is "a change is as good as a rest". And in this case it's a change of manager that would be better than a rest. I love and respect Arsene for what he has given me as a Gooner between 1997 and 2006. But he has let me down. He has disappointed me hugely. He's like a great friend I once had but have drifted away from because he let me down badly. I can't hate him because I keep remembering all the good times, but I just don't want him in my life anymore. It saddens me tbh.
I've never wanted to see an Arsenal manager go more than him. Not even Terry Neil or Don Howe!
I don't think anyone really wants to hound Wenger out.
for the first 9 years at the club he was fantastic - sadly the opposite has been the case for the past 9 years
but if he doesnt resign at the end of the season then there needs to be a coordinated campaign to get rid of him

Sad, but true. And what gets me is the up his arse media 'personalities' and journos who slate us for not winning anything for 8 years, but then criticize anyone who calls for his head. Yes, we're near the top, but everyone knows it's due to the order of the fixtures, and grinding out results against the lesser teams. It's not enjoyable at all.

You what ?? Are you serious ? If the fans were holding a proper protest against the c*nt in the morning then I would be on the first flight over - make no mistake, I would have absolutely no qualms about hounding the c*nt out and would be willing to do whatever is necessary to drive him out of our club......permanently

This is the sad thing that watching Arsenal now is simply frustrating.

A few important tweaks and we really could re emerge with another great era for us, the massive frustration is that unless things change we wont make the signings we need, will continue with ongoing injury problems and wont turn up again at the big matches. We have some massive players, some of the best on their day in the league but frustratingly they just dont turn the skill on often enough.
7 points from a double show the history books, together with some stonkingly good goals, all 3 of the best involving little dinks from Giroud Wilsheres being goal of the season on MOTD, but the reality is we need to learn from mistakes obvious to many.
Still a cup win is good enough for me for the season, really hoping for the tweaks to happen, preferably SOMEONE that can work with AW in the transfer market miles better as well as a massively improved medical / conditioning/ preparation area.
Our capitulation in the biggest games made it difficult to enjoy at times.
I still struggle to believe we'll kick on from this although mentally yesterday would have done some of them the world of good. With Sagna now leaving, it just adds to the list of positions that need strengthening.
Most of the transfer gossip is complete bollocks but do we think that this present squad minus Sagna and plus Aurier, Gonalons and Remy / Kalou will really achieve anything greater next year?
Yesterday should see the start of something.
However I get the feeling that win yesterday was the culmination of the decade of failure and not the start of a great new era. I

Is ANYONE actually enjoying following Arsenal this season?
