Bayern game possibly not included as Cup Credit ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm sorry but I think that is bollocks. I usually associate 'plastic fans' as those who don't really care for the club, but are happy to shout out about a clubs success when they are doing well. They are also those who don't even watch games on the T.V when they have the chance.

As I have said already, I am going to the game because I WANT TO, so am I a plastic fan for that?

fair enough - I went to the Milan game at this stage of the CL a couple of years ago with the same attitude as you.
sooner or later you will probably realise a category A CL game is all a massive con like I did but until then I hope that you enjoy going to the match

Let me tell you WHY I am going to the game on Wednesday.

I am going because let's face it, this is a game against (probably) the best side in the world at present. This means that when the ball is on the pitch, everyone in that stadium is going to be up for a result. There will be a great atmosphere, which makes a game much more enjoyable to be at ,even though many such as yourself will boycott the game. And because many season ticket holders aren't going, this makes it a rare opportunity for me to watch Arsenal live against a top quality side. Also, every time I have attended a match we have won, therefore I haven't experienced a loss. So at the time of course I snapped up the chance to go.

When I bought my ticket, we were on a good run of form and was optimistic. Then we got obliterated by Liverpool and were shit against United, and that's when I realised I made a mistake. I wouldn't have bought one after those results, but I cannot refund my ticket so I have no choice but to go. But I'm going to look at it like this; on the off-chance we get a result, it will certainly be a night to remember.

This will likely be my last visit to the Grove for a while if we get just keel over and battered, because I feel the same way as most of you.

Having gone to last year's Bayern game I wouldn't bank on a "great atmosphere"

Good post, and why many of us go, if I hadnt upset the misses at the threat of 2 Wednesdays out a week apart I would be there as well.

Northbanks post sums up the situation v well.

Its a really sad state isnt it when young Ryan gets it from Gooners for going to watch The Arsenal IMHO.

You claim not to be a plastic fan yet are going to this game solely because it is against the European Champions and we were on a good run when tickets were for sale. You even admit you would have second thoughts if we were performing poorly. How on earth does that not fit the definition of plastic? Turn up for the glamour ties when things are going well and then sit in your armchair when the team is performing poorly. I guess that is passion, right?

Where I am on this......season ticket holder (x2) for many years. My seats (North Bank Upper) £1350 each! Wife and me work full time, young family, life is busy. Club have ''kindly'' re-activated my seats for Munich game (Liverpool cup game is last of home 7 cup credits...I will be there) at £74 each! Got an email, yes I've been late picking it up...my fault...from club saying I had to opt out by 10th Feb or tickets automatically renewed and added to renewal fee for next season. Any further home cup games this season will be treated in same way. Well we can't make it on Wednesday sadly due to work commitments but The Bank Of Arsenal have trousered the money and, quite frankly, don't give a fuck. May be able to sell on to friends for the game at short notice or likely give them away to mates. not the point though.....how much fucking money do you want to fleece from us with £125m cash in the bank and a team that will again win nothing this year and let us down bitterly. :banghead: :cussing:

Great is there going to be mindless drumming and some buffoon with a megaphone ordering us to clap rhythmically and chant "woah" for 90 minutes as well, just like in the Bayern end :barscarf:

ok you have made a mistake but considering that you and your wife pay the club £2,700 per year I do feel that the club should allow you to opt out even at this late stage.

modern day Arsenal is all about greed and treats fans as customers rather than supporters of the club. very disappointing.

OPT OUT DO NOT GO! OPT OUT DO NOT GO!

Yeah, errr, or maybe people will decide they won't give up their seat for a game against the best side in Europe to an inevitable tourist, or won't pour £62+ down the drain.

This is all standard internet posturing, with the advent of Ticket Exchange the club has nothing to fear from Season Ticket holder revolt. While we all sympathise about prices that are too high for most of our pockets, the fact is you can go through a home season perfectly ok on a Silver membership anyway.

In my view, a good amount of the constant anti-Wenger vibe is really just venting about a general discontent over football pricing and expenditure, people feeling they're now owed something back in proportion to the prices they pay. There seems to be expectation about winning every single match just because we pay the most. A sense of entitlement, which is one of the worst aspects of modern football fans.

Nobody denies that the ticket prices add fuel to the fire - why shouldn't the cost to the fan be a relevant factor? It certainly justifies complaints about lack of money spent by the club/manager when the fans are being fleeced year on year.

But expectation about winning every single match because we pay the most? That's utter bollocks and it's a typical straw man argument - pretend that those who have opposing views to you have ridiculous and unattainable expectations/demands to make your own position easier to argue and talk about a "sense of entitlement" to make yourself seem more reasonable. Not everyone who is angry at our failure to compete seriously for any trophies (bar one League Cup) since moving stadiums thinks that we should be winning every game or beating Chavs, Citeh and United to the title every season.
