As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Any other player than Gerrard and that would have been a second yellow.
Again to me this thing with Sterling was a nothing incident.
What happened to Petit years was absolutely disgraceful so repeating it wouldn't be justice. Durkin was a arsehole of the highest degree and his 2 page spread in the papers following the ''assault'' claiming he did what he did for every park referee in the country was laughable.
I agree in principle, my point is that nowadays every single incident is dissected and analysed by our wonderful friends in the media and it has barely warranted a mention.
In todays game, you lay your hands on a ref in an aggressive fashion, you should at the very least expect a yellow card, it's dissent.
The fact that Gerrard 'was trying to get the ball' is not relevant. He went to ground, was late and fouled the player in a dangerous position on the pitch. Not likely to seriously hurt the Ox, but, in today's game, a yellow card every day of the week.
Rodgers, unsurprisingly bleated on about the penalty (not mentioning that the Cannibal's salmon leap with twist and tuck might have put doubts in the ref's mind). However, if that was given it'd have been 2-2 and then if Stevie Mee had been sent off we'd have been odds on to win the game.
They had plenty of chances, but if you don't take them it's you own fault.
The Sterling incident deserved a red card in my opinion..he aggressively confronted a referee and laid a hand in him in an aggressive manner. that is a red card all day long...
Ask any Victim fan what would have happened if Suarez had done it, he would probably got a red card and it would be all over the back pages today.
Although it was obviously a penalty, to be fair to Webb, when looking at it from his angle (camera behind him) it doesn't look like much of a foul as Ox doesn't appear to dangle his leg or obviously clatter into Suarez. It's only from the camera shot behind that you can see proper contact.

Arsenal can win the Cup without leaving London and if they do so they will probably have to beat four of the top six along the way. Still think it's a long shot but its good to be there.
To be fair, I did go down far too easily
Briefly went out with a girl from Bournemouth many moons ago, and I couldn't get the bitch to go down at all

No one disagrees that Podolski is the best finisher at the club, but when you are coming under pressure in the 70th minute, it was the right decision to hook him. Can't disagree with bringing on Cazorla either, he had the space to operate in and as you say could have scored a goal and been given a penalty.
I think most agree that playing Cazorla on the wing for away games doesn't work, but I wouldn't mind seeing Gibbs play there more often. He and Monreal seem to have an understanding about when to push and when to stay. For tough away games (like Chelsea), it could be a better option.
What is interesting about this...and other 'tinkering' that wenker did (according to savage on the BBC Sportspage)actually counter argues what many claim and believe that he doesn't do Tactics...I'm not saying he does...but maybe he does...in a lesser way unless of course Bouldy is having a say (at long last) which might account for our mostly improved defence !?

I think we have to give some credit to the team and managing team for this win- it takes a fair bit to come back after a proper mauling a week earlier against pertty much the same team.
Starting without Sagna and Gibbs and of course with Sanogo was a massive gamble, Wenger would have been utterly slaughtered if we were dicked again and for once it paid off.
Shame that the Quarters are before the away leg of the CL at Bayern, as we wont necessarily field the best team though the best still doesnt feature Pod, who would be in my starting line up for all the rest of the season.
Incidentally wasnt Lehmann talking about Flappy leaving and not Pod?
But bringing either him or Monreal on at left wing when we're winning by a goal is one of Wenger's go-to moves - and most often it's Monreal coming off the bench. Normally doesn't work imo as it just takes away a genuine attacking outlet/threat and the defensive benefit seems to be fairly minimal. It's a potentially effective substitution (especially with Gibbs coming on as he offers more of a threat rather than just allowing the opposition FB to bomb on because he's not worried about Monreal) but should be used with a bit more regard to the circumstances of the game.
I remember Wenger bringing on Cygan at left-mid home to United in 2004 to shore things up. Predictably they got in down our left-hand side to equalise with Cygan nowhere to be seen!
Thought I'd wander over to RAWK for a laugh. Should have known better.
They are all to a man convinced that they will finish a minimum of 3rd and are best-placed to win the league from here. They were understandably positive about their performance yesterday but the absence of Jordan Henderson was brought up as a major factor by numerous posters with not one reference to the fact that from our first XI we were missing Szczesny, Gibbs, Sagna, Ramsey, Walcott, Cazorla and Giroud. And finally the one poster who made the seemingly reasonable assertion that maybe Webb is just not the great ref he's made out to be and bottled the second penalty decision was hounded by basically every other forum user as it's obvious that Webb, the FA and anybody else with any influence in football not only hates Liverpool FC but also their fine city.
Northbank fuck them ,whinging fuckers ,the usual story ,its not our fault ,they should be moaning about sturridge and the chances he missed.bet there is no mention tht stevie meeee should have been sent off.

Glad you asked. There was one mention which expressed surprise that Webb didn't send him off and report it as violent conduct so as to stitch him up with a 3-gamer. No mention of police obviously hating Liverpool FC but it was implied
