Bergkamp statue

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Agree that some sort of Rocky Memorial would be fitting. Doesn't have to be a statue but they have quotes/paintings from the likes of Kanu on the inside, not sure they've got anything about Rocky anywhere?

I would also fully support a George Graham statue although club would never have it, after what happened I never see him revered as a hero by any official publications or anything.

There is a Rocky one. Too pissed to remember the quote but it's about being proud to wear the shirt..

I have heard the quote before. It's a great one.

Really mate? I can't see how making a statue of a manager who went on to manage the scum would go down well.

GG is still an arsenal legend amongst those who saw his sides play for us, I can't honestly hold a grudge against anyone who did so much for us

I also saw the man play and he was class. Actually a lot that was said about him is now being said about Ozil. His nickname was stroller! But he could pick out blinding defence splitting pass. He did have 2 old fashioned forwards to play up to though. 8)

Hate O'Leary for THAT celebration but he was an Arsenal legend, and deserves more respect.

Wasn't long before Bergkamp signed that me and my mate, after a dismal defeat at the dell, sidled up to the Arsenal team coach and managed to catch a word with George:

"When you going to sign someone, George?"
"Who?"
"Dennis Bergkamp"
"You must be dreaming"

A few months later George was out, Bergkamp was with us in the summer and the rest is Apple Pie.

:barscarf: :D

Now we've got the same problem with Arsene.

 :banghead: :barscarf:

I think it is just inside the main doors that lead to the car park where the players enter the stadium from the coach.

Brilliant. 8) Worst of all it looks more life-like that the original DB10 stature does (even down to the mobility, allegedly  )

Pair of cocksuckers.

Anybollocks, it's not a great looking statue. :| DB10 diserves better. I agree with whoever above said a still frame pose of him halfway through skinning that (Greek?) Toon defender for THAT goal would have been my choice. Simply THE most iconic DB moment ever. 8)

Yeah I'm pretty disappointed with the statue, the legend himself deserved a little better.

If I were to choose the next statue:
-Ian Wright
-Rocky Rocastle (with the thumbs up pose)
-Pat Rice

David Dein had a small desk made with the legs being a cast of David Rocastle's legs.
I saw it once, when I had to go into the club to collect something and they had just moved into Highbury House and were unpacking everything.
Cannot find any photos of it online though.

George with the ECWC as shown on the 'May the 4th be With You' Gooner cover would be good.

I'd support at statue of him - he lost it a bit at the end but he never ripped off the fans like this one has. He re-installed the values and respect for the club that this current lot have pissed away.

Perhaps one of him in his playing days would be more appropriate, as if we give him one for being Manager then the AKB's will be wetting their shorts wanting he who must not be named to have one as well as his block of flats where the old girl once stood which is really his legacy after all.
