I remember it being bad but don't remember the collapse being that abysmal!

WENGER OUT
Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
When the pressure has been off though, to be fair. Unless fighting Spurs for 4th is considered to be pressure. For me that's nowhere near the same pressure as being in a title race.remigardeshair wrote:To be fair, we've finished the past two seasons very strongly.g88ner wrote:Shocking collapse. woken up at 3.30am by the poxy CO2 alarm battery failing
The idea then came into my tired head that Barcelona will fire Martino if/when he fails to win either the CL or league and possibly Wenger might be interested in the job, which is why he's not announced his shiny new contract yet. So far, no nightmare. But then I thought he'd take our best players with him. And I don't mean Diaby.

Different types of pressure agreed, but pressure all the same. We werent fighting for anything much at all in 2011 but still managed to have that abysmal run, in the last two seasons every game in the run in was pretty much a must win to get into the CL spots.Clash wrote:When the pressure has been off though, to be fair. And as we all know, the 4th placed trophy is our sole aim in life

No, IF (and it's a huge IF), le cock leaves in the summer then it will be to psg and psg alone - mind you I couldnt give a continental fcuk where he goes as long as he fcuks off out of our club

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
If most of our dreams come true and he does finally fuck off then what will happen if he decides to appoint his successor? He appointed his own boss ffs. You know it won't be a simple case of him just leaving, his ego wouldn't allow it. He will want to plant his roots firmly in the ground even after he's long gone by helping to appoint a Stojkavic mini me type manager who follows the professor crackpot ethos.augie wrote:Sam59 wrote:woken up at 3.30am by the poxy CO2 alarm battery failingThe idea then came into my tired head that Barcelona will fire Martino if/when he fails to win either the CL or league and possibly Wenger might be interested in the job, which is why he's not announced his shiny new contract yet. I'm not even joking, I really think I have. Normally I've got a cracking memory when it comes to football games and if you told me an Arsenal game and a year from the last decade I'd tell you the score, the scorers and any other major incidents. And certainly if I couldn't remember it would come back to me when I saw the score and date.DB10GOONER wrote:You probably blanked it out to save your sanity.northbank123 wrote:Saw a quote from Nasri ahead of CC final Sunday about how we only won 2 league games after we lost in 2011. When I looked at the post-Birmingham results that season there were quite a few that I have absolutely no memory of.

I think that is the angriest I have ever been (against the team/manager) watching Arsenal.Henry Norris 1913 wrote:your going to feel fucking ill when you remember what happened at newcastlenorthbank123 wrote:I'm not even joking, I really think I have. The good news though, is that the successor - whomever it turns out to be - won't have the same iron grip that AW has. Thus, if he's underperforming, he can probably be wheeled out the door pretty fast.MrT wrote:If most of our dreams come true and he does finally fuck off then what will happen if he decides to appoint his successor? Let's just hope they don't let the successor choose his successor. Or that AW comes back to save the club, a la Kevin fucking Keegan.

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
The problem doesn't stop with Wenger.
I have no faith in anyone at the club being capable of recruting a manager, given the pig's ear they've made of recruitment.
David Dein was a football man and found Wenger. His relationship was one of mutual respect, not the deferencethat exists now.
Letting Wenger appoint his successor or allowing the board (
) to do it, the outcome will likely be shambolic.
So, I guess we do nothing

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
couldnt agree more.
in fact it was for this reason that until 18 months ago I still actually was in favour of Wenger being kept on because his successor will most likely be even worse.
the warning is clearly there from Manchester United

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
If Wenger leaves in the summer, then the board will be up shit creek without a paddle. They have let him run the club, as none of them care about football. This means, that any new manager, will not be entrusted with any big transfer funds. The board will be shown up to be the idiots they are, as they allowed one man to have all the power at the club. Still though, I hope Wenger leaves, as nothing could be worse, than a guy who pretends qualifying for the champions league is a successful season.arseofacrow wrote:The problem doesn't stop with Wenger.

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
I'm sure that Wenger will appoint his successor, whenever that is. Don't know if that's still Stokjovic (it was, but that was a few years back). The conspiratorial part of me thinks Fergie picked Moyes to make himself look even better. You know, the "you don't appreciate what you've got until it's gone" idea fuelled by ego. Although Fergie had won everything, and was 74 so fair go. Wenger would hate his successor to be more successful than him.
I'm still wondering why he's not formally announced his new contract.
