Giroud played well today in the time he was on,he scored twice,I wouldn't put him in the "Quality" bracket quite yet,he's hit and miss, some games he will be good others he'll be shocking,he only looked "Quality" because Sonogo is so fucking shit,I guess the only good thing about Giroud being like he is is a big club wont come in for him!augie wrote:BFG4 wrote:Your attitude is similar to that of an AKB, when it comes to Giroud. He was quality today when he came on, but it doesn't change the fact, he shouldn't be the main striker for a club like Arsenal, end of.clockender1 wrote:Oh you lovely Frenchman.
Now all the Giroud haters can go fuck themselves - he just took us to Wembley - perfect timing perfect positioning.
Great work from us on the right mind. From rosicky as well lol
And again.
I think even the word quality is a stretch tbh - he was well placed to score what were effectively 2 tap ins so his performance is being talked up so much is beyond me![]()
Of course it goes without saying that wakemeup was more akin to a pub level footballer today than any type of pro footballer![]()
Normally you can see something about a young player that gives encouragement for the future but this kid has shown absolutely nothing to suggest that he will be anywhere good enough

My argument though BFG is that he doesn't get enough service to warrant the abuse, plus he's scored some Lovely goals in a generally poor France side.
He does miss a few but most strikers do - even Suarez, and I think people see RVP etc through rose tinted specs a bit.
I was a big fan of smudger who was never considered world class either but he was a great player for us - I don't think the current Arsenal fans would rate him at all nowadays.

And can't see any reason why Smith woud not be rated. Aside from pace he had the lot.
Re: Everton FA Cup
Giroud is the best of a bad bunch, but the problem is, that when things aren't going well in a game, he is not the man that will do anything significant to turn a game, as he is average. Also you mention Alan Smith, but you forget that he was the golden boot winner in both the 88/89, and 90/91 seasons, where as Giroud has 18 goals(in all competitons) this season. If professor clueless leaves in the summer, any (competent) manager who replaces him will have Giroud on the bench next season.clockender1 wrote:I am it's true. Its Cup Euphoria - if you love the cup it does that to ya. the snobs wouldn't get it.Henry Norris 1913 wrote:I swear your bipolar or something, your always massively over confident or totally cynical1989 wrote:Not too worried about Citeh. Our best player will be back by the time we face them.
even if we get city - with Ramsey back, a pairing of him and Tets plus an inform Ox and Oz & Caz is going to cause City a few problems imho.
if jack was out all season i'd put a tenner on us to win the Double, but as it is you know that he'll drop Arteta for Jack in a heartbeat.
this is what the Cup does to me, it renews my hope that we'll not be as shit as we can be.
Re: Everton FA Cup
The bottom line is at the moment we don't have any striker at the club who will come on and change the game,we don't have one striker to come off the bench with that little bit of magic, and for a club like Arsenal with our supposed aspirations that's a disgrace,Park,Sonogo,Bendtner and Giroud, not one world class name there,BFG4 wrote:Giroud is the best of a bad bunch, but the problem is, that when things aren't going well in a game, he is not the man that will do anything significant to turn a game, as he is average. That was a real cup match. Great result for us.
Just want to say it was good to see Pat Rice at half time. He got a fine reception. Well deserved for an AFC great.

Re: Everton FA Cup
I went to the game and I'm really happy this evening. Ozil was brilliant.
Sanogo was not. Giroud is waaaaaaaaay better than him. (Bendtner is better than him.)
I was getting so frustrated as all our Ozil and Santi led attacks were breaking down as the leggy giant foal lumbered around in the middle and they didn't want to give him the ball and when they tried to, he miscontrolled it or gave it away. He's a long way off being good enough.
Midfield was a lot more fluent without Jack. I also prefer the Ox wide, rather than centrally, especially with Theo injured. Gibbs looks injured yet again though.

If the Ox stays fit then he needs to start in all of our important PL and FA Cup games. Rest him for that dead rubber in Munich. The boy is on fire

Seeing Pat lift that Cup is one of my happiest Arsenal memories.
Let's hope he beats that terrible disease.
Re: Everton FA Cup
What a great day, me & my son were glad when the postman came off. A lad 4 seats up from us did not like what we said about him, he is not good enough for us, Giroud came on and put himself about, but for this lad to say Sanago did nothing wrong to be subbed, I say he did nothing at all, he just does not get into many scoring positions.

I actually thought when we lost Viera and Edu that same summer that Edu was the bigger loss,Viera had gone off the boil while Edu was coming in to his ownrobbo10 wrote:Edu was one of the most under-rated players to ever play for Arsenal.markyp wrote:AGREE ON EVERY POINTclockender1 wrote:Augie - Ox was my MOTM for mr cos of his effort and that dummy that won the penalty. Totally agree about flam - hardly noticed him. But you're 100% correct he allowed Arteta to move forward and link up the play quickly, which he couldn't do with Jack alongside him.
Many of our better wins at Highbury came with very quiet performances from Edu and then Gilberto.
Many people didn't rate them either - until they were gone.
Tbf I did point out we'd be better without Jack earlier in the week - Ironic if we put ourselves in the position to do the double without him...

Re: Everton FA Cup
Chamberlain has been like a different player since coming back in the last few weeks/months. Gone is the low confidence, dithering on the ball, negative decision-making and inability to beat a man. Whenever he gets on the ball he wants to drive forward and with his pace and power he can skip past people for fun. It opens up the pitch and injects the tempo into our play that we crave.SteveO 35 wrote:If the Ox stays fit then he needs to start in all of our important PL and FA Cup games. Walcott has very slowly developed into a very dangerous player (albeit with gaping weaknesses still), but I've said from day one the Ox has it all and could be genuinely top drawer. Pace, power, work ethic, willingness to shoot, an ability to beat men with ease on either side and two good feet to back that up with. If we can help him work out how to put that together on the pitch he will be class.
Would be insane to play him in Munich.
