Guess so, and tbh if you're taking it from a Middle Eastern standpoint then I can totally see where you're coming from, same way I felt about having it in SA.kingjayson1 wrote:Like I said the links in the ME states around there are good so its not just for the 1.5 million in Qatar but those of Kuwait, Saudi, Bahrain, UAE, Oman.SWLGooner wrote:Jay, if their population is only 1.5 million why give such an insignificant country the world cup? Give it to a significant, and more liberal, Middle East country and more people would consider going; I'll go to Russia and Brazil but won't go near Qatar, I think it'll be shit FWIW...
..And I'd be very surprised if Qatar were chosen through entirely above board methods...
Oh don't get me wrong, I know the whole process is bent but so is the whole of FIFA. I obviously prefer league football over the WC but it will be a brilliant period for the whole of the ME.

finally someone hit the nail.olgitgooner wrote:Fucking spot on mate.
Might be something to do with money. Not that I would suggest for one moment that there is any bribery or corruption going in. I'm sure Platini and his mates are straight as a die.
it's not about the poor people of qatar who love football. it's not about fifa being super cool people who want to take the WC to those who never had it.
fifa is about the money. nothing else. they do add a few referees behind the goal and make some stupid competition from time to time so it doesn't get too ugly, but it's all about a few richmen fulling their pockets a bit more, that's all.
they don't even allow technology in the game so that people can still manipulate results... it's all about the money.
just like 95% of what happens in brazil, decisions by fifa are always corrupt and money-driven

Re: Qatar
Jack Warner, bent as a two bob note.
FIFA should just use this corruption to move the tournament to England, where it belongs, and be done with this nonsense of playing in 50 degrees Celcius.
But I doubt they will.

the Premier League should just tell FIFA to do one and continue to play the fixtures as usual.
as the players are employed by the clubs they should not be allowed to be released to play in a winter World Cup.

I wish to fcuk that they would just change this tournament and be done with it cos all this fcuking about and constant arguing in the media is ridiculous

Personally I think that as long as blatter is in charge/alive nothing will ever be done to warner or anyone else - I believe that when it comes down to it, blatter is probably as corrupt as the rest of them and even if he is not receiving cash per se, he is rewarding places like qatar and in return they vote for him to remain in power

Re: Qatar World Cup 2022 - Heat and Corruption
Far from removing the competition from Qatar ,FIFA are probably looking for even bigger kickbacks from the ludicrously wealthy Qataris who will gladly pay them what they want .
Mind you FIFA should be wary of taking it away from them as they are now shooting up the table and vying for the coveted No 1 spot in state sponsored terrorism, ahead of the USA ,Saudi Arabia, and Russia after their sterling work in Libya and Egypt and currently in Syria where they are eagerly engaged in trying to wipe out the majority Shia-ite population by funding nutters from the Uk and France to go and kill innocent children !
Better lock my door tonight

Sorry bit I like the idea of footballers playing In extreme conditions, might make a few of hem man up instead of being the pussies that they are. Can anyone honestly watch a Rugby match and then take the next time they see a Premier League player doing the death roll from a slight knock seriously? Honestly, play the fucking tournament and ban water bottles, would make t much more interesting.

Presumably as a big rugby fan then you watched the Lions' warm-up game in Hong Kong this summer? Players on both sides were fucked after a few minutes and the quality of rugby was cack as a result.MutleyGooner wrote:Sorry bit I like the idea of footballers playing In extreme conditions, might make a few of hem man up instead of being the pussies that they are. Also, I think you are both missing the point that rugby (or "Towel Flicking" to give it it's correct name) is a shite boring "sport" played at 2 miles per hour by fat closet homosexuals.northbank123 wrote:Presumably as a big rugby fan then you watched the Lions' warm-up game in Hong Kong this summer? To quote the only sensible thing to ever come out of Noel Gallagher's mouth: "Rugby? A nonsense of a game."
