You couldn't let him have it could you! All he wanted was an opinion that was just his and you've gone and spoiled it.DB10GOONER wrote:Seconded.MutleyGooner wrote:This post is shit, just my opinion.

Re: Sick of Arseblog's monopoly
used to read it for some time but stopped because I viewed his opinion as to "AKB" and "corporate".
seemed to me he never had the bollocks to say what the majority were saying about Le Boss and the team.
there's so many blogs out there though....

I totally agree with his summation of Giroud today, spot on.

He basically just repeated what I (and a couple of other sensible posters) have been saying on here.Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:I totally agree with his summation of Giroud today, spot on.

Re: Sick of Arseblog's monopoly
I honestly do not see that Giroud is as good with his back to goal as people make out. Probably because aside from the odd stupid run where he cries out for a difficult ball to be played into a non-threatening area, all he wants to do is drop in and show feet, making it easy for the defenders to push up and get really tight to him and allowing them to often get a foot in or force a mistake on his already poor touch.
He is strong but certainly doesn't hold defenders off with anywhere near the ease and confidence that other hold-up players do/have. Despite his fairly slender figure and it not being the strongest point of his game van Judas had the seemingly effortless knack of being able to hold the defender at arm's length and the ball safe if he pulled deep with his back to goal, whereas Giroud always seems to make far harder work of it to me even when he ultimately does well. As I said on another thread Bony was doing the same thing last week, able to keep the balls away from our centre-backs with relative ease for seconds on end until support eventually arrived or he was fouled.
He wins a massive amount of flick-ons but whilst he can hardly be expected to bring down balls at throat height against a centre-half, it's not really a huge asset in the context of what a quality PL striker should be (even if we did occasionally have someone running beyond him). Likewise we don't supply anywhere nearly good enough crossing but I don't buy into the idea that he is a fantastic goal threat in the air - contrast how many great headers or great efforts you've seen to how many great chances missed or chances completely fluffed with his head.
I don't think he is a dreadful player and despite my constant whinging think he would be a good signing for a Europa League club who would use him sensibly. I just don't see that he is good enough for a side or even squad that is aiming to win big trophies, whatever formation you play.

Re: Sick of Arseblog's monopoly
I remeber accusing him of being in the club's pocket and therefore his freedom to criticise the Wenger regime was limited. This was the season his book came with the member pack.
But he came on here are defended himself well enough and although he will never I think call out-right for Wenger to go, he has made criticisms which probably get a wider attention than an anti-Wenger rant on here.

Re: Sick of Arseblog's monopoly
I think as with most bloggers his aim is to get as many readers as possible and as a result he takes a more general/neutral stance, as anything too extreme tends to lose you followers. I agree that he has a tendancy to sit on the fence (and is therefore a Wenger apologist) but I like the way he writes. He may find that he gets more followers doing this but I would suggest they are not as hardcore as the few hundred on here. There's the rub - do you do this to get followers and dilute the product or do you take a more 'anything goes' approach that attracts a smaller but more loyal group?
The evidence suggests there's room for both!

If things are going well ... or if there is a time when you want someone putting up a strong defence of the club ... then Arseblog is the place to go.
However, if you're frustrated, angry, pissed off, detest the manager and want changes ... then its probably best to keep away because someone trying to reason out most of the problems is not what you need to see.

I get that I really do, but shouldnt there be a limit on how many excuses a guy can accept/generate ? Surely you would question somebodies state of mind or perspective if they continually find ways of defending the indefensible ?

Re: Sick of Arseblog's monopoly
Yeah I definitely agree there is a limit to the excuses ... and that's why I very rarely read his blog these days because I don't want to hear any more excuses, I only want changes.augie wrote:Clash wrote:If things are going well ... or if there is a time when you want someone putting up a strong defence of the club ... then Arseblog is the place to go.
