How do Arsenal's results affect you?

Post by Chunky The Gooner »

Im sure we had this on here a long time ago but I cant be arsed to find it. How does Arsenal's results affect you?
I saw people coming out of the ground yesterday all laughing and joking. To me getting fucked 6-0 is no laughing
matter at all but that's me. I sulked all yesterday and Im still fuming today.

Don't watch MOTD, avoid all exposure to the media including not buying newspapers for days.

Would never laugh and joke after a defeat......all I will say is that my expectations from games against United, City and the Chavs are now so low that the steamrollerings get less painful. The 8-2 cut to the bone - nothing will ever feel that humiliating again

Sit around sulking usually, couldn't be cheered up after yesterday at all. Tend to go into a trance where I pay no attention to what anybody says, or does.

The worst part is being told that 'It's only a Game'. ARGH :banghead: :cussing: :cussing: :banghead:

You know what the tragic thing is? Yesterday's result affected me for about an hour before I realised I didn't actually care anymore as I resigned myself to the fact there are many more of these results to come under Wenger. I've just become numb and apathetic to it all and just move on with my day as I won't let that man in charge ruin my day/weekend/season again.

It was a grey cloud over me the whole day but I ignored it and carried on, didn't surprise me or upset me really. Losing is losing and it's always painful, first hope was extinguished so early in the game I was resigned to it.

In a nutshell - I have always viewed football and getting wound up about it the soap opera for men (and I am a man). Don't get me wrong, I am taking part in it too :-) I do get pretty angry like anyone else, but really, it is something to distract you from the mundane-ness of everyday life, so it is probably good to keep a little perspective on things...

I suppose it is also the modern day portion of it as well which adds to the drama - we have a seat where you can vent to total strangers with instant reaction about the absurdity of men making millions of pounds for kicking a sack of wind.

When you think about it, it makes it even more laughable. However, I am just as much of a victim of it as everyone else :-)

Usually just get disappointed and sulk for a bit.

I have on occasion got angry, the Birmingham league cup final and the 3-2 home loss to the scum a few years back for example. Generally though I don't see the point, I'm not someone who gives a shit what fans of other teams say at work the next day.

Yesterday I was extremely disappointed by the sheer tactical ineptitude and the arrogance in our approach to the game. I was hoping he'd have learnt from the Liverpool game but no. Wenger showed the opposition no respect and thought he could get away with having half our team ahead of the ball in the first 10 minutes. You don't have to have worked for 30 seconds in football to see that we were wide open whenever Chelsea won the ball back. He made our very good defenders look like absolute mugs.

Having said that I was not expecting anything but a defeat from the game and so at least with the outcome settled early doors I was able to get some shopping done rather than sit through the rest of it 8)

When with other Gooners I sulk and moan but if I'm around fans of other clubs I pretend I'm not fussed. I don't dish it out when we win either because I can't be arsed with the abuse on a Monday morning after we lose and it inevitably comes back to bite me on the arse. Won't watch MOTD or read the papers as others have said

It's interesting this thing about not wanting to be wound up by people at work. Maybe people have much more brutal workplaces then I do but I just don't understand why people get bothered by this. Without meaning to be rude it's all a bit playground isn't it? From my experience people stop doing it fairly quickly if you show that you're not bothered and if you dish it out (as I have to a couple of Mancs this season I must admit) then you can't have any complaints.

Man up 8)

PS. Scum 1-0 down :barscarf:
