Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
wenger hiding from the media could be the best thing - nothing pisses off the meeja like being mugged off by a manager.
Hoddle found that out as England manager.
once fleet street (or wapping thesedays) decides you're done, you're done.

Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow

Most likely bollocks but I hope so.
Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
Its bollox.
Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
wengers post match motd interview was the most honest ive seen. When was the last time he admitted that he is responsible for not being able to motivate his players for "the biggest game of the season". He's going....another clue Leonardo on motd? PSG director of football he only ever turns up on bbc for the world cup not for a domestic weekend, and in his analysis did he blame the manager? No. Maybe, this is why wenger didn't splash the cash in january.
I hope we win the cup and allow him to walk, not like how they treated Graham.
As for liverpool, rodgers inherited a team built by dalglish and has got the more out of them. Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge ~(i think?), Henderson all brought in by dalglish.
A fresh approach is what we need. Has wenger left us in a better position than when he first came in '96? Yes. Are we going to struggle like Manure? No...we have a stronger squad, it has been the manager and the injuries that has held us back.

Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
I reckon Wenger himself has yet to decide his next move.
He will see if we win the FA Cup and finish 4th, then see what Arsenal are offering as compared to PSG, and then have a chat with his family about it all.

Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
I dont think he is remotely close to quitting but I agree no point to face the press with a midweek game to reckon with.
Its better to get the Swansea game out of the way before facing the press again,if we win then he can steady the ship with a defensive stalemate against City then all will be on for the FA Cup and the VT .
Two losses and we are in the soup !

Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
Ideally, Wenger will announce his retirement some time before the end of the season, then go onto win the F.A Cup and land us in the top 4.
After that, we should try to get one of either Heynckes, Klopp (will be very difficult) or Van Gaal. If we pay the same (or close to) Wenger's salary, coupled with our transfer budget and Champions League qualification it's possible we can get those mentioned, then hopefully we'll move forward.
Realistically, we'll win fuck all again and get top 4 on the final day by the skin of our teeth and there will be mass celebrations for AKB's all round. He'll be tied down to a new deal for 3 more years and we'll be stuck in a rut of achieving the Virtual Trophy again

Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
I totally agree that the lack of press conference is all about him not wanting to face a thousand questions about the Chavs game with Swansea coming up. He'll also have told the players to stop this bollox of posting on Twatter and Instagram etc because they are not concentrating on being footballers or something like that.
There is something to consider though, as someone else suggested. Man Utd will spend a fortune in the summer, no doubt about it. That will mean that next year Chavs, Citeh, Victims and Utd will be favourites for top 4. Wonga will look at this very closely and weigh up in his mind whether or not he thinks we could still get 4th. His ego will NOT let his record of always qualifying for the CL go, this may be the biggest factor in him potentially leaving I reckon. If he did leave, then of course it's quite likely we wouldn't get 4th place next season given the strength of the 4 teams mentioned above (if Suarez stays), and it would be yet another boost to his massive ego that the first season he leaves, we fail to get top 4 and lots of sheep would be saying 'we told you what would happen'.........
4th place is going to be very very tough to achieve next season, whether Wonga stays or goes!!

Might be the only one but I wouldnt want van gaal

So do I but at the same time I realise that the akb sheep will be out in force next season if we suffer, what I would consider to be the expected, drop off in our results so I would want to bring in a manager that would reduce the possibility of it happening and van gaal is too divisive for me.
It will be ironic that when wenker does eventually leave, the akb w*nkers will demand instant success despite allowing this c*nt 8 years of dragging us down

Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
Cancelled press conference = Wenger leaving........err I think not
As for suggestions of PSG ??!! 1. Why on earth would they want him 2. Isn't this the man who has been banging on about 'financial doping' and giving back 100m to a rich owner if it was offered to him to spend 3. why would he join a club where expectations are huge compared with a luxury job where 4th is celebrated like a massive achievement

1. He helped broker the deal for the new owners to buy psg and is quite cosy with them. You shouldnt ignore the fact that he is french and as such is revered in his home country and other big clubs on the back of his early successes (in much the same way our sheep still worship him

2. Wouldnt be the first sign of hypocrisy from wenker would it ?
3. Winning that french league would be a shoe in....even for wenker. Wouldnt he love the ego massage of being a winner again even if it is in a country where one club has a huge advantage over all the rest

Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
yesterday I was beginning to think that it might be the beginning of the end.
today I am not so sure. the media blackout seems to me more a case of the club lying low.
don't forget if you look at the big picture if we win the FA Cup we are actually on course for our most successful season in the past decade. If we do then I guarantee that within 2 months all the AKBs will be celebrating the signing of his new contract with "theres only one Arsene Wenger"
then up will pop Gazidis with his annual "we will spend big" speech and everyone will renew their season tickets.
Job done.

Re: Press conference cancelled tomorrow
Trouble is though that we have been found out, our left side defence isnt quite up to it, we arent able to defend against counterattacks and pace (Not alone in that) but push hard against the left defence rapidly and we roll over- Both Bruce and Uwe Rosler will be planning hard already- They may not have the overall quality, but for one offs they will plan hugely better than us Im afraid.
Sadly now I cant see us winning the FA cup either, its got Birmingham written all over it yet again
, and perhaps some at least of the Arsenal Directors have twigged.
