Swansea match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Don't forget the virtual 8,000 who will be part of the official attendance, when that annoying cock on the PA system screams out "TODAY'S ATTENDANCE 60,058......SIX ZERO ZERO FIVE EIGHT"

a virtual attendance fits in well with us trying to win the virtual trophy.

He'd better be careful to say that stadium announcement fast then. SIX ZERO ZERO has a nasty ring of reality to it.

Podolski is our most natural scorer and i would like to see him play as a striker before he leaves in the Summer..
The early chance Giroud missed at Chelsea is exactly the kind of chance he thrives on.
Sadly Podolski has played poorly every time he's started up front. Not sure why; was very good there for FC Köln but seems to have forgotten.

Everybody's slammed Giroud, but I don't know is it that they aren't good enough (well Giroud isn't). It might be something to do with the fact that our lone striker is too isolated and not supported enough. I think that it's the same with Poldi.

maybe our January signing Kim Kallstrom might get a game too.

I thought that Chelsea's new January signings - Matic and Salah did well on Saturday.
for some reason I thought that you couldn't buy decent players in the January window...

:D

We've lost in tennis sets to the big 3 this season 6-3, 6-0, 5-1 retired (with injured pride)

I'm sitting with the old man in Block 2 for this one

A "can't lose" situation - win and I'll be able to particpate in the Father & Son chorus of There's Only One Arsene Wenger, lose and the old duffer will get to have a tribute for his 1,001st game equally as shit as the 1000th

Drop Cazorla.

Play both Gnabry (sorry, Gnarby) and Oxlade-Chamberlain in the wide positions. Rosicky in the centre. Trim the number of ball players in the team. Oh and give Sanogo another try out so that Giroud can go househunting in France with an open chequebook.

Probably because Wenger persists with this shit 4-5-1 system that isolates our striker, no matter who that striker is.

first of all drop Chesney - Fabianski is a lot better at the moment.
it is no coincidence that we have reached the FA Cup semis with him in goal and i hope that he plays in the semis and final.

true all our strikers are isolated, but when Theo was playing spaces were opening up especially when he likes to come inside and maybe the CF would have more space to play. Giroud or anybody else can't handle two good CBs. You need to a very adept player to play that role, power or speed but you certainly need a good touch.

But people need to accept reality, all our forwards are no better than Average, actually they're shite. God knows what people see in podolski. Podolski can finish, and I respect that, but is an average footballer, and stinks as a striker, his movement is abysmal.

Good for FC Koln but poor for Bayern and Arsenal.

If I was in charge I'd ship all our forwards out, podolski, giroud, Bedntner, Sanogo and Park. Honesty I can't believe that's the line up Arsene thought would be befitting of Arsenal FC.

Correct matey. We would still struggle if we had Ibra up front if the sevice to him is practically non-existent.
