Tonight was not even remotely a surprise. The only first half goals we've managed in the last 8 PL home games were against Sunderland, and that was also the only one of those games where we put in a decent performance. Wrong team selection, wrong tactics, wrong substitutions imo and failure to adapt to the shock of going ahead.

I would say I'll be interested to see what Wenger has to say for himself but there wouldn't even be one iota of truth in that. If/when he does have the stones to face the cameras a few gentle questions will be batted away with Wengerisms with keywords like "jaded", "fatigue", "quality", "level" and "sharpness" likely to feature amongst other vagueries.

We can also forget the FA Cup if we play like this. Combine Wenger's worse-than-usual team selections and tactics, our complete lack of confidence and form and our propensity for bottling the big games and we are more than capable of getting turned over by Wigan.

He has mentioned 'spirit' 4 bastard times on 5Live. :banghead:

Does anyone on here reckon we'll get any points from the blue Mancs/Scousers?

Is this the season we finish fifth in a four horse race?

I don't think energy, nor application or effort were really so much of an issue tonight. Bit surprised so many people thought they were. If anything I thought we we were charging aroound around like headless chickens most of the game, which is a prime example of why we'll never learn from games like Saturday. The lack of effort etc was certainly one of the issues against chelsea, and absolutely atrocious, but far from the biggest one, let alone the only one. Yet in Wenger's mind I dont doubt he thought if we run around a bit more and try a bit harder that would automatically fix all the problems. No thought whatsoever given to the more pertinent failings.

Meanwhile, all the same issues keep bobbing back to the surface like an unflushable post-Costco-pizza monster-jobby. We still kept committing too many men ahead of the ball when we shouldn't, yet somehow simultaneously failed to get anyone in support of, and running beyond, an utterly impotent Giroud. He has his merits at times but at others he's the walking equivalent of a brewer's droop. We still ended up in that oxymoronic state of stifling all individual spontaneity through the rigidness and predictability of Wengerball, whilst somehow simultaneously lacking any structure to our play whatsoever. How is that even possible? Yet it's been going on for years.

Keown (shit pundit though he may be) was talking after Rosicky's goal against Sunderland about how we practice that sort of move non-stop against mannequins. What fucking good does that do in actual match situations, where defenders actually have the ability to... duh-duh-duhhhh... move from a stationary position? It's all good when it comes off (with the help of an accomomdating defence) once in every 1000 attempts but anytime it doesn't we look devoid of any ideas whatsoever. These are grown men, professional footballers, some of them genuinely talented  , programmed into zombies unable to think outside the Wengerball box. To say it's disheartening doesn't even come close.

This was worse than Saturday. Chelsea are a top team, whereas swansea are in freefall.

We were a complete and utter shambles. Shitty will run up a cricket score. The comedy fucking owngoal summed up the performance.

Forget the FA cup semi, we will lose to Wigan.

From apparently defensively solid to conceding 8 in 2 games. Shitty are going to seriously improve their goal difference on Saturday night.

Not really bothered about tonight tbh - the only thing that matters in the remaining 2 months of this season, is to rid OUR club of the cancer that is arsehole wenker  I know that will enrage many Gooners especially as there is a very real possibility of a trophy during that time but I don't really care if I'm honest - sometimes there are issues that have far more importance than the winning of a trophy and this is one of them. Our club, and specifically the future prospects of our club, is hugely dependent on getting shot of wenker - he is outdated, stale, tactically clueless and wholly unable to motivate his players and we as a club are declining more and more with each passing day

The short answer is no. Level with blue dippers a week on Sunday and thanks to them having game against a defensively sh*te Fulham and us having free scoring Shitty, their goal difference will exceed ours by Saturday teatime.

It's really shit hoping your team has bad results but here's hoping we lose the next 4 games, because serious shit is the only possible thing that will make the dictator consider his position.

Paul Scholes rude about Arsenal's football, tactics, lack of leadership on the field, lack of strength and power, and how Jack Wilshere is no better than he was when he was 17.
Hard to argue. The ref blowing his whistle when he did probably saved us from losing.
Everton playing with so much more energy and self belief, I think they'll get 4th.
Wenger talking about players showing great spirit and giving everything - ?????????????????

I probably wouldn't put it quite as rudely as you put it but as I've been saying most of the season, this will be his last one because I didn't expect him to get to a cup semi but we all know he will sacrifice that at the altar of 4th place trophy. We lose to Wigan and the result against wet spam 2days later will be irrelevant, he will be finished.
