I don't believe that I have ever posted on this thread before but shall change that as I love movies but am no movie snob, I like most genres and as well as liking in depth movies also like to sit and watch a movie that is easy going and just plain escapism.
My favourite sci fi movie is Blade Runner, must have watched it 20 times.
Fav War films are Deer Hunter, Platoon and Full metal jacket but I love all the old war movies because it reminds me of sitting with my Dad and watching a film together
When it comes to more gritty films Tyrannosaurus was excellent I thought.
Don't mind horror movies but I think after you have seen a few they all seem pretty similar, I jump more because the missus screams when a scary part happens and it makes me jump like fuck.
Saying that the first Video I ever saw was round a mates house (he was considered rich cos he had a video recorder) was Evil Dead

(now I see it as a black comedy, I have all three films on DVD in cases that feel like human skin

), I spent most of the film hiding behind a cushion and when it was time to go home I made my mate walk with me and I lived about 10 doors down the road, I was only about 12
I love a good Western, again so did my Dad, all the old John Wayne films just take me back to the best days of my youth, True grit is brilliant and the newer version with Geoff Bridges is very good too, Open Range is very good and Unforgiven too but there are so many.
I like films like Fargo, Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction and I love Dusk Till Dawn.
A modern gritty twist on a love film is True Romance which if you haven't seen it you must.
I love comedies, I'm the annoying person on a plane with headphones on and roaring out loud, I remember watching Blades of Glory on a flight and the air stewardess said it must have been very funny cos the whole plane could hear me
Step Brothers is funny, get him to the Greek was good.
I love The Life of Brian, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, In Bruges (dark humour), Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, The Worlds End, Paul.
Right, just looking at some of my collection and here's a few.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a classic as are Good Fellas, The Player, Schindlers List (I cried watching that film), Forrest Gump, Four Weddings and A Funeral (Yes), Shawshank Redemption (had tears in my eyes at the end of that too), The Usual Suspects, Trainspotting, Boogie Nights, LA Confidential, The Big Lebowski,
I have hundreds of films on DVD and Blu Ray so like to sit in and watch a movie, I set up my living room years ago with a huge plasma screen and surround sound system.
I was the first one out of my mates and family and anyone that I knew who had a plasma screen, I got it from the Ideal Home Exhibition and it cost me 3 grand back in 2000 (a fujitsu 42"), I had moved into a house that me and my brother renovated and we re-plastered every room so the living room has all the cabling in to have the plasma on the chimney breast and all the surround sound cables plastered over, pretty geeky I know
I still have that plasma (in my cabin) but the first ones weren't HD so I replaced it some years ago.
I used to buy all the home cinema magazines to get the best audio equipment and TV's etc so am a bit of a audiophile and film lover.
