Let me clarify something to nut flush (not that I should need to)......I am 100% a Gooner and have been for close to 40 years now and I am ensuring that my 2 sons are Gooners too. I will always, and I mean always, want what is best for the club and it is what we perceive to be what is the best for the club that seems to be where we difer - you are totally ok with throwing podolski under the bus for short term success whilst I would reluctantly accept throwing wenker and the fa cup under the bus for long term success.

Why is winning the cup so important to you ? Is it for the enjoyment/delight/satisfaction that it will give you ? I do totally understand those feelings and would feel the same myself but right now I would be willing to sacrifice my own delight if it helped the club accelerate the process of changes at the top cos those changes might actually bring me more than 1 day in the sun every 8 years. Unlike many others I dont put pressure on wenker because of the lack of trophies because I accept that there are only a few trophies and many clubs battling to win them, but I do want and expect to see the club progress year after year and if that still comes up short then so be it. What we are living through now is the same stagnant bullshit that we have been going through for over 6 years now and I have had enough of it  Does it make me a better fan than you because I am willing to accept short term pain if it meant long term gain ? Of course it doesnt but by the same token dont for one second think that it allows you to judge me as a lesser Gooner than you.

I should also say that, if wenker signed a new contract in the next few days then my point is moot and I would want to win the fa cup 10-0 8) :barscarf:
You see this is the thing, podolski is no doubt a player of quality but he just doesn't apply himself properly. You can't see on a tv screen unless its reviewed by carragher and neville how bad our wide players are at covering our full backs. Podolski doesn't cover or track back which for me doesn't merit him getting the nod over giroud to play in the middle. Giroud probably has less ability than pod, less pace (and pod aint quick) BUT he tries his heart out every game.

We have been soo reliant on Giroud this season to lead the line that I honestly feel he's is totally burnt out. Yes that's wengers fault for not buying in January but that doesnt make the solution pod, in my opinion and I have said this before we should have sanogo playing up front on saturday. He has the pace that will pull defenders out of position and allow others in.

Now my main issue with some of the stuff you have said. I'm going to wembley on saturday and I want my team to win, I dont know any other gooner that doesn't want us to win on saturday and get that 9 year old monkey off our backs by winning the fucker in May, maybe its just a London thing. We are going to spend more than the pikeys that come down from wigan on a day out in London. I don't think I will personally have a lot of change out of £100. So why the fuck should I walk round with the mentality that we should lose just so Wenger will finally see the error of his ways and leave (like that will ever happen).

I want to have a beer with mates a sing song in baker street , get to the ground SUPPORT the team and even if we produce a shit performance as long as we get to the final I will be happy. I couldn't give a flying fuck about someones agenda on an internet forum. My message to anyone who is even coming close to having those sorts of poisonous thoughts and has a ticket for saturday is don't bother coming, but I know for a fact that these characters will be a very small minority.

Wenger has got to the stage where he can do what he wants, there's nothing you or I can do about it. But that doesn't mean we stop supporting the team. Look at the shambles down the Lane, they had a manager who turned the club round and sacked him, now they are even more of a joke than we are.

Nut Flush maybe he's not great at tracking because he is a forward, not a wide midfielder. He will never have been required to cover that much before (especially with the licence our full-backs have to bomb forward) and clearly we don't really focus on stuff like that in training and match prep.

And on another note if you're going to play 4-5-1 the wide players have to be given as much attacking licence as possible. Not asked to babysit for a full-back who is going to spunk a cross straight at the first defender and then be expected to create something from a deep wide role with a slug of a lone forward.

We've never seen the best of Podolski and we never will. Wenger signed him because he was available on the cheap (in relative terms) even though he was never going to prosper in any of the roles in our system.

Nut Flush I agree with you 100% when you speak about the lack of tracking back the likes of podolski and cazorla do - this is not a new issue and many will confirm that this issue also existed when we had clichy at left full but back and I complained about it at that time but then it was easier for most to take the easy option and blame clichy or whoever was full back at that time.

However the thing is, and there is no getting away from this, that many players are being played out of position and especially those that are being asked to play on the wings - podolski, cazorla, ozil and rosicky are not wing men and neither was arshavin or bendtner before them, but yet they are being played out there and being blamed for not doing things that do not come naturally to them. In le c*nts system, these wide men are expected to be the one's that are supporting the lone striker and are expected to track back and provide cover for the full backs. The dipstick (wenker) hasn't yet realised that when they are dragged back giroud is isolated and we have no outlet so the ball keeps coming back at us, but when they do push up to support giroud it leaves our full backs woefully exposed - the wide players are basically caught between the devil and the deep blue sea :?

Podolski is and always has been a striker - he is not strong/physical to play the lone striker role and I also would question if he has the technique to do it BUT he is a player that would thrive playing off a front man like giroud and on through balls like he would receive from ozil and cazorla. It makes absolutely no sense for wenker to label him as our best finisher and yet maroon him on the wing  :x If we played 4-4-2 and he wasn't good enough there either then I would absolutely want him out and likewise if we are to stick with this current formation next season then I think that he should be sold but only because he doesn't suit the system and not because he isn't a good player - it is for that reason that I will defend him and continue to call for him to be played up front in a 4-4-2

Finally nut flush, is there any chance you could stop this "I am a better supporter than you" crap cos it is a childish suggestion ? I know that you are from London (cos you continually say it) but I was born a Londoner too and only came to Ireland when I was 9 so does that make me a better supporter than those who were born in Ireland, Scotland, Wales or even in the likes of Reading, Luton or wherever ? Does the fact that it will cost you £100 on Saturday make you a better supporter ? Did paying for flights over and back from Ireland to support the team, make me a better supporter than those that live just a 5 minute walk away ? Does the fact that I had 2 seasons tickets up to this season, that were costing me over £2k sterling per season make me a better supporter than those that could only go half a dozen times per season or better than those that couldn't go at all ? You don't agree with my sentiments on Saturdays game then that is fair enough (sometimes I'm not even sure if I agree myself  ) but argue with me on that basis instead of trying to belittle my support based on where I live and how much money it is costing you

I can only hope that Aurier and Kalou are guests of honour when we roll over the might of Wigan. We need our main summer transfer targets to buy into Team Arsene as all the top clubs are bound to be after them given all their fantastic top league and CL experience

Podolski is an inside forward best used backing up a front target man type. Those that say that he plays wide left for Germany should consider the midfield players in the teams that he has built his 100 caps in.
Schweinsteiger 6 foot , Hamman 6 foot 3 , Ballack 6 foot 2 , Hitzlsperger 6 foot , Muller 6 foot 1 , and Khedira 6 foot 2.

He is not asked to defend his full back that is the job of the powerhouse midfielders they pick. Perhaps if we had a midfielder that was over 5 foot 8 that covered our defence both he and Arshavin would have prospered at our place.

Where did I say I was a better fan than you?? I think your just a tad paranoid there. My mate works and lives in Belfast and flies to every home game and has done for the last 7 years and he wants wenger out, but he doesnt want us to lose!

Same with me, I don't go to arsenal games wishing them to lose. Even if we do lose its not a given that wenger will resign. And if wenger leaves, who says we will actually be in a better position with a new manager BUT the same management above him !

And yes its fucking expensive being a gooner in London so I have every right to say what I did.

I think we will lose 3-2.

I would like to see Podolski used just off the striker, that is what I reckon he would be best at.
Either in a 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1.

Thing is, it is the position where Ozil, Cazorla and Rosicky are also best played.

4 days to go, time for an injection of positivity into this thread.

Team the Man should pick

De La Soul man upfront by his lonesome with the supporting cast of

Poldi Tomas The Ox
Mikel Rambo
Gibbs(please be fit or Sagna),TV5,BFG,Jenkinson/Sagna
Flappy

No predictions, let's just smash these f**kers.

Optimism that's completely based on nothing but blind faith of hoping the Arsenal won't let you down. Nothing wrong with a bit of blind faith a couple of billion Christians,Muslims and Buddhists swear by it and it's not done them any harm :rubchin: :rubchin:

Up the Arsenal
