Probably a tight game which we will either win or lose by a late goal.

They did have 8 changes and pretty sure of the play offs so will not read into that result muchHenry Norris 1913 wrote:wigan losing at home to millwall

This is a welcome and important distraction for us. I am really looking forward to it. i know others feel different but I am desperate for a Cup. That takes nothing from my belief that Wenger has to go, but I love the FA Cup and want to win it so badly. To end the nine year taunts as much as anything.
I remember reading somewhere that Wigan fans are not supporters of the rugby League team, not sure if that is the case.
Amway , we take an early 2-0 lead and are comfortable with one of the goals from the returning Ramsey, but as always we out on the handbrake , Wigan score and we just about cling on for a 2-1 victory.

I am still haunted by the last time we faced Wigan in a semi final (league cup 2006)
we lost in the last minute of extra time and as it was the last time I ever saw a match at Higbury I was gutted by the result. I have never ever forgiven Wigan since then and after Spurs and Chelsea they are my most hated team in the country. By the way up front that night we had Henry and Bergkamp and Van Persie who came on as a sub. And we STILL lost!
fast forward 8 years and our striking line up on Saturday will be one of Sanogo or Giroud
Good luck!

That was my last game at Highbury too, didn't Reyes miss a penalty too? It was a horrible journey home that night, I hate that being my last physical memory of Highbury.Gunner Rob wrote:I am still haunted by the last time we faced Wigan in a semi final (league cup 2006)

Can't say I hate them like you though

Who was the full-back who made his debut that night? He went to Cardiff on loan I think? Kirea Gilbert or something? He set up Henrys goal if I remember correctly?I thought he looked half decent....obviously Arsene thought differently.Gunner Rob wrote:I am still haunted by the last time we faced Wigan in a semi final (league cup 2006)

Don't forget we also pummelled them in the last game at Highbury, what an occasion that was !

Admittedly we had a vastly better squad that day,how that squad didn't win the Champions League is a mystery to menut flush gooner wrote:Don't forget we also pummelled them in the last game at Highbury, what an occasion that was !

Kerra Gilbert...turned up on my doorstep , well neighborhood, playing for Shamrock Rovers a year or so ago. He was preceded in Tallaght stadium by another legend called Rohan Ricketts who also had a spell with the Spuds I think. Graham Barret was another ex Gunner at Rovers.

I remember at that Wigan game Dave Whelan tried to go to the tiny Wigan support after the game but was stopped by a steward.

Does anyone have a rough idea of how many wigan have sold, as they are advertising all four category prices on their website still

Ricketts got a bit mouthy about us when he joined the scum too.Bradywasking wrote:robbo10 wrote:Who was the full-back who made his debut that night? He went to Cardiff on loan I think? I work with a guy that went to school with and played junior footy with Graham Barret. He was amazed that GB didn't make it, he was apparently THAT good as a kid and youth player.

I actually have a bit of a soft spot for Wigan after that game. The majority of their fans wore the blue 'I was there' shirts, despite it being the celebration of another club, and it seemed around 75% stayed after the game to watch the post-match shenanigans, all the while clapping along. Not a hint of dissent, actually. Just surprised me in this day and age, when most football fans are wankers for the sake of it.nut flush gooner wrote:Don't forget we also pummelled them in the last game at Highbury, what an occasion that was !
