THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That's a wrap folks, nothing to see here, have a good night everyone.
JC's excitement was literally palpable even via the medium of Twitter. Like an excitable kid who'd overdosed on Capri Sun and chocolate on Christmas Eve waiting for the arrival of Santa Claus...

Not surprised that he's staying. We all know he's not going anywhere aren't we?

He did reiterate in an interview today that he's staying.

I can only hope that we don't get 4th then. Otherwise he really is staying.

3× bigger paycheck  He's gone!!!!!! :barscarf: .... But wait, they will want results. If qualifying for CL isn't good for Raineri too keep his job, why would they need Wenger to do the same every year? They have more than enough resources, who needs CL money

Unfortunately for AFC I reckon hes staying. He would have said before now if he was leaving in the summer.
Just another example of his ego and smug 'I know better than everyone else' attitude.

Whatever he does, this game playing and cryptic clues just shows he has his own agenda before the interests of the club. Mr Honourable...

Mr Honourable who won't pay top wages because it goes against his principles but is happy to be paid more than any other manager in the country despite our so called financial constraints

We lose by massive margins to our biggest rivals in the most open season ever and Wenger still stays. He is spineless and a liar. I dont believe a word he says anymore and im sorry but winning the FA Cup is just not good enough because we are too far behind other clubs when we should not be.
If Liverpool can turn it around in 3 years why has Wenger been unable to turn it around in 9 soon to be 10. Chelsea find it easy to beat us as does City and im sure United next year. If Liverpool win the league then they will strengthen something we never did after winning a title. Its shocking that the club is being treated this way. Is it Kronke who is happy that the club is making money and does not care about the team ??

Yes. He defers to Wenger in football matters. As long as Wenger meets the minimum requirements we will see no change.

The Guardian, Friday 25 April 2014 22.18 BST

Arsène Wenger has promised Arsenal he will sign a new deal to stay on as manager beyond this season, he revealed on Friday.

The Frenchman's contract runs out in the summer and an extension has remained unsigned as Arsenal's Premier League title challenge has unravelled in recent months, leading to suggestions Wenger might be ready to leave after 18 seasons in charge.

However, the 64-year-old now looks certain to extend his tenure at the Emirates Stadium after a season which could end with the FA Cup trophy.

Asked in an interview with beIN SPORTS, broadcast on Talksport, whether he would stay or go at the end of the season, Wenger replied: "Look, I have said that many times already, I have given my word to this club and that I want to continue where I am..."

So that not only means he will be staying put  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: BUT that he will continue with the same drivel that year in year out year in year out year in year out fails to deliver anything but the VT for fourth.

:suicide:

Will Stan the Man announce his new deal next weekend if the Virtual Trophy gets lifted once more?
