THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Once the open-top bus parade showing off the FA Cup and, of course, the much more important virtual trophy has finished there will be a special ceremony outside Islington Town Hall.

Wenger will be escorted by a special honour guard of Patrick Barclay and John Cross while Kroenke will be live via video link counting his money.

The only shred of comfort im taking in professor clueless signing a new deal is that his luck as far as qualifying for the VT will run out next season. Just do a quick comparison between us, and all the other clubs in or around the top four, and the likelihood is Liverpool, Chelsea, and City will all spend big this summer, while United will throw every cent they have at getting back into the top four, where as Wenger will do his usual bollox, and sign nobody.

So the only shred of comfort about Wenger signing is that we'll be shit next season. Brilliant!

Think we have enough evidence already to know that Wenger will only leave when he wants to. Signing a new contract will be further evidence of this and therefore doing badly next season will be no comfort at all.

Wenger has no professional, personal pride. Being thumped by record margins by all our main rivals, including Everton, and he signs on yet again and makes it sound as if he's doing the club a huge favour. He'll spend the summer on a generously paid junket for French TV in Brazil, then sign some muppets no-one else wants on deadline day. As usual. Vote with your feet guys.

I think that it's a fucking disgrace Wenger going to brazil given our problems in the transfer market the last three years.

The board should of said 'no' stay here and do the job you're paid for.

If he does sign I can only hope we get a start like uniteds this season with city, Chelsea and Liverpool all in August, that way we can get rid of him before the window closes.

Right now, I have zero faith that he will sign top quality CB's , DM, back up keeper, and a replacement for Podolski (sigh...)

Once again, it will be prospects and journeymen and we'll start the season with key players out - Walcott and Ox probably...

It's just so damn depressing.

New contract signed and sacked within 2 or 3 weeks of the season starting?

He is under no pressure from above, the contract is there and will always be, he and he alone will decide when he goes and sadly it appears that he has no shame or real perspective.

You can't blame wenger - it is BrazilianGooners fault - he offered wenger free board and lodge and told him he had loads of young Brazilians waiting to be signed up for next to nothing. - Only when he gets there will he realise they're all ladyboys like denilson

If Wengy does go to pontificate on the World Con then how does he square that with his oft-repeated "we will work 24/7 to find the best players"?

Does that mean we leave it to Gazidis & Law to sort out the squad in the summer?

I'd rather have that than let Wenger panic buy some injured nobody on a free and pay him his 'socialist wage structure'....
