i don't see why any top manager would leave their current position to work with an ageing, difficult and poor squad - look at Dortmund, Bayern, Real Madrid's, Athletico's squads, way likely to achieve more than United in the next 12 months.

its a catch 22 - you need a top manager to attract top players, but you need top players to attract a top manager.
They're still the biggest club in the world: be realistic, a top manager would always join United before a team like Dortmund or Athletico - the sheer magnitude of their stature as club attracts them more than anything.

Managing United is among the most high profile job in the world, not to mention they're likely to command a sizable salary.

It doesn't matter if other teams will be better than United for the next 12 months, that's only for the short term. When United get back on track they'll become a dominant force yet again.
They most likely will improve and battle for a position in the Top 5 of the prem again along for the other trophies that the top 4 teams go for, but they will never be the force they were under rednosecunto. simply because it was he who made them the team they were.

And Norwich fans already getting very excited at the prospect of us securing 4th spot with a game in hand so that we put out a weakened side against them... In all honesty, I don't think either circumstance makes much difference. Our "weakened side" have won many League cup games over the years - and some by wide margins - and many teams start to play better after there relegation has been confirmed (albeit that Norwich have played well recently and unlucky to lose their last two). Personally, I'd love to see Norwich win at Old Trafford...partly for Moyes sake and partly to burst the bubble of '92!

Come on Norwich - spoil the fucking party and give us all a good laugh
At least they're amusingly shit so it's preferable to the constant Liverpool wankfest.

Although the 'Class of 92' bollocks is going to get extremely irritating when they roll over Norwich and win their last few. Tbh I would be delighted if they appointed them all.

Yup! There is already too much wrong at manure for an over night miracle to happen...no matter who they get in as manager it is going to be another 3 - 5 seasons before they challenge (seriously) for the title - That is going to be between chavscum, man$hitty and the whinging victims - because we all know wenker will not do the honourable thing neither will he bring in the required coaches and players and medical team - every which way we is fucked.

Southampton will provide a nice reality check for these :censored: at St Mary's on the last day of the season.

Henry Winter must be the biggest Manure a**e rimming journalists ever,

Decscribing beating a championship bound team as 'tearing them apart' is as embarrassing as it gets

I'm pleased they won today - the penalty gift papered over the cracks. I'd like them to win every game under Giggs and offer him the job. Either that or they keep him on as assistant and he makes the next coach's position untenable too.

Reading the match reports is hilarious, he really is the 2nd coming.

More failure is just going to be funnier.

Manchester United should beat Norwich City comfortably regardless og management etc. The fact that they did yesterday is nothing got to do with Saviour Giggsy or the Class of 92. I even see pundits and fans asking "what if " had Giggs been in charge for the full season. They are a poor team who will finish sixth or seventh because that is the limit of their ability when the Fergie fear factor is taken away.
The media wankathon about Giggsy will be a close second to the media wankathon if Stevie Me lifts the Premier League.

I never understand the point of making predictions like this when things change so quickly. How many people were backing Liverpool for the title 12 months ago? Personally I think they could fall away a bit again next season when they have something other than the league to focus on, surely they can't go another season with barely having a single injury to one of their forward players.

There is no reason why manure cannot make the same turnaround, if they get rid of the right deadwood, sort out the dressing room and get the rub of the green they can be straight back up there. And the club should be expecting it of whoever comes in, Moyes was always onto a bit of a loser when the club was talking about accepting a post-fergie slump etc etc, talk about giving the players an excuse from the outset...

Football now seems to be full of people talking about "5 year plans" and "visions" and "philosophies", utter horse imo. Buy good players, manage them well and get a bit lucky.

Spot on.They have have a poor season with a manager out of his depth. But they have addressed that by getting rid of Moyes. While we will still be left with Clueless Wenger.Van Gaal is a great manager who will bring in quality. And dont kid yourself that if Utd and us go for a player that player will join Utd. CL or not.Wenger is on a 20 year plan

Both Utd and Arsenal are 4 quality players away from being good teams.Van Gaal will buy those players Wenger wont.Last summer we needed a striker we spent £42m on Ozil.Anyone really think if Fergie was Utd manager this season we would have finished above Utd?.Its all about having a good manager

And BBC decide to show it as first game on MOTD... Really? Think that's a fairly rare occurrence for the late game to be first on anyway, but it was hardly entertaining or even particularly meaningful... And it was above Fulham v Wigan, Swansea v Villa... Really? Whatever about United fans wanking over Giggs, Scholes etc, the media could do with having a good look at themselves  !

It must have taken them ages to mop up all the commentators goo afterwards

My favourite comment as Giggs walked out of the tunnel...."he just looks like a manager doesn't he?"

Err, is that because he's wearing a suit instead of a football kit? Hope and prey he gets the job but increasingly sounding like Van Gaal is a done deal

I would be delighted if they appointed Giggs. He was absolutely fucking milking the applause yesterday too. You'd never think that he has been given the job for a fortnight because him and his mates got the previous manager the sack a tenth of the way through his contract. Even Robbie Savage is coming out with nonsense about Giggs should be the next-but-one manager. Why?????

I saw some comments from Phil Jones today about Moyes defending the players and being extremely patronising towards Moyes, calling him a "nice guy" and stuff but making it clear they had no professional respect for him. He clearly lost the support of the dressing room and had to go but who the fuck is Phil Jones to think he's too good for the manager? Fucking donkey will be plying his trade at a mid-table club soon enough.

Giggs: a man so craven and in Fergie's pocket due to his "extra-curricular" activities that he shat all over his National team only to miraculously recover in time for Utd's next game. Can't upset Uncle Ferg with what he's got on you now, can we?

A coward of a man and a narcissistic wanker to boot. "Wah, wah, wah - I want my 1000th appearance, wah, wah, wah - I want my consecutive season scoring record to continue and bad man Moyes won't play me anymore".

Prick.

I'm fully aware I'm a bitter Celt but 9 years without playing an international friendly despite being captain. And still I hear him regularly referred to as a Wales legend. I'm sure he won't have lost any sleep about it but still. Prick.
