Re: Frimpong has been released by Barnsley
The Dench stuff was a bit of fun, never significantly bothered me though he was a bit flash with clips of his motor, but at his age he cannot be said to be fully mature.
The modern world of "Selfies" and "Reality TV" hardly provides the youngsters with a humbling environment.
We all made mistakes as teenagers.
The tweet about skin colour was well off the mark though.
We will never know how he might have turned out had he not had two serious knee injuries.
Played with energy and bottle but has some way to go with positional discipline if he wants to make it in the top-flight.

Don't agree RE the Dench stuff being a bit of fun, Quartz. It wasn't just Dench - it was Soccer AM, twatter, clothing lines, merchandising, rap and celebrity wannabe stuff too. It was all a distraction from his work. Being a pro footballer is not like any other job (I hate when people try to claim footballers are like any other employee, they aren't) and if a player wants to make it at the top they have to do certain things and sacrifice certain parts of their life. Harsh, but that's the reality. The Dench stuff and all the media personality thing he spent so much time on also affected his attitude and he started to think he was billy big bollox. If he wants that whole Dench media celebrity thing then fine, he can have that, but he'll be having it in the lower leagues where the players' commitment to excellence is not as necessary or vital. I guarantee we will see Frimpong on "celebrity" big brother or the dancing/ice skating shows within 2 - 3 years.QuartzGooner wrote:The Dench stuff was a bit of fun, never significantly bothered me though he was a bit flash with clips of his motor, but at his age he cannot be said to be fully mature.

Not having a pop at you Quartz, as these defences of FrimpMong have been rolled out by loads of people, but I'd also add that as for making mistakes as teenagers - it doesn't cut it where top level footballers are concerned.QuartzGooner wrote:The Dench stuff was a bit of fun, never significantly bothered me though he was a bit flash with clips of his motor, but at his age he cannot be said to be fully mature.

Again this is how footballers are very different compared to normal people. We can all make mistakes in our teens and mostly it won’t adversely affect our long term careers as those careers can last as long as 45 to 50 years. But a footballer’s career is brief, maybe 5 to 20 years max, probably averages out at about 10 years(??). So that time as a teenager is far more vital and decisive for a footballer than it is for your ordinary Joe Public. Again, it’s harsh, but fuck them, there are the financial benefits to compensate them.

Some of them court ordered community service punishments can be brutal!OneBardGooner wrote:
Having done some voluntary work (teaching) years ago with young offenders, there was some real footballing talent among them and if only a few of them had been given just half the chance this dozy twat had - just being given an opportunity at a club like The Arsenal - where IF you do work hard and have potential they will support you - and believe me having taught some well nasty 17yr olds - he would be a shitting himself if he had to play them on a regular basis...all his Dench Attitude would be running down his strides...
Part of me thinks it's sad...but I also think he has probably been ill-advised, mis-informed and being somewhat un-educated not able to see what was really required to 'make it' as a pro...... I remember when Pennant was on the up , making first team appearances etc and we all know what happened to him, partly because of a lack of someone in his life to keep him on the straight and narrow.
So Dench Izza No Longer On Da Bench Yo innit Ya feel me

He was injured during most of the Dench stuff.DB10GOONER wrote:

He would have been with the physios for the times required by the club.
The rest of the time was his own.
I think it better he was out there selling T shirts and feeling upbeat than sitting at home getting medically depressed because he was not in the team.
And his strength and power were never in doubt.
He is a larger than life character, it is just how he is made.
He came across as a brash and sometimes cocky kid.
I was in no rush to watch his youtube clips or listen to his self promotion, but there is no suggestion he was involved in anything illegal, or was boozing or smoking etc.
He did Dench with his cousin Lethal who is a rapper.
Not all our kids are like him.
You look at someone like Walcott when he was younger and he was lucky to have a good family around him, good advisors.
He did some TV work and put his name to books, plus a lot of charity work, had a life outside the game but kept a humble approach and professional attitude, worked hard through injuries and has become an important player for us.

I'm just gonna take it you agree with me and that FrimpMong is a total fuckbucket and has no one to blame but himself for being such a fucking moron.

Sad really - when a young player who suffered the injuries and showed the commitment he did on the pitch leaves, I would normally wish him all the best. Frimpong just came across a hugely diselikeable bellend.

Re: Frimpong has been released by Barnsley
you have to blame the club not society or modern life - a youth player has a manager, a youth coach and other Arsenal Development staff to make sure they develop the right work ethic.
you look at other starlets pingpongs age - Luke shaw, ross barkley, janujaz etc etc - they are not all over twitter, doing records T shirts etc.
their clubs keep them on a tight rein and keep their feet on the ground.
we don't, we pamper them and indulge their outside activities - like we are indulging Wongas trip to brazil for 3 weeks when he should be back in europe negotiating new signings with agents and clubs.
What do you think LIverpool would say to Rodgers if he wanted 3 weeks off in Brazil, or Pelligrini at City. sod off, they'd be told "stay at home, and do the job you're paid for."
same same to the kids.

We've gone from Cliff Bastin, to Liam Brady, to Tony Adams, to Dennis Bergkamp, to this.QuartzGooner wrote:He did Dench with his cousin Lethal who is a rapper.

Re: Frimpong has been released by Barnsley
Blame the club? There is only so much they can do, why don't you have a go at his parents??? We have plenty of kids at Arsenal who have tried to focus on professional careers whether they are first team material or not.clockender1 wrote:you have to blame the club not society or modern life - a youth player has a manager, a youth coach and other Arsenal Development staff to make sure they develop the right work ethic.
